Anger Management Counseling - How To Seek Help

July 31st, 2007

Anger management counseling is a necessary part of many individual’s lives. It is important to realize that anger management is something that happens to millions. They just lose control; they just can not handle what is happening. Or, they just get so mad that something just has to give. No matter what happens or how it happens, those that lose control of their anger need to consider seeking out the help of anger management counseling.

Why Invest In Counseling?

For many people, the fact that they need to invest in anger management counseling is something that is bothersome. Why can’t they just get themselves under control? That is a problem that many of those suffering with anger management problems have to face. The important thing for you to realize is that this is a condition that is serious and is uncontrollable. They do not try nor do they want to be this angry. It happens because they are pushed, frustrated or stressed to the max.

Even more so, what eventually happens in the angry outburst also is not controllable. No matter how much it would be beneficial for them to be able to just turn if off, they can not do that. That is why anger management counseling is one of the best ways that people can control what is happening to them. As a parent, teen anger management should be counseled as soon as possible.

What Good Does Counseling Do?

Another mistaken theory is that anger management counseling is not worthwhile. It can be, or it may not be. The fact is that no two people are the same. Most of those that enter counseling will learn anger management techniques to help them to ultimately control what is happening in their lives. This is not something that we all can accomplish, but even just learning a few things can drastically improve their lives.

Counseling for anger management will provide tips and techniques for everyday use. It will help them to learn what is truly triggering the outburst and how to handle situations that infuriate them. It is not something that can be learned on your own, though. If you have a loved one facing anger management problems, seeking out the help of anger management counseling can be the best thing for them.

If you are the person that is facing anger management problems, working with a counselor is an ideal way to learn how to deal with these problems. The fact is that if you do not, things will just get worse for you through the long run. If you work with anger management techniques that you will be taught, it can be amazingly beneficial to the entire outlook that you have on your life. Anger management counseling is available through doctor’s, through your employer possibly, and possibly through your community.

Spam Control - The Internet Without It?

July 31st, 2007

Every single day 30,000,000 emails are sent around the world.
50% of those emails are spam. Blue chip companies and even
Governments are taking drastic measures in spam control. The
most recent evidence of this is the Canspam Act which was passed
by the US Senate early in 2004.

If you look at what most people used the Internet for you’ll
find the vast majority of online activity is sending and
receiving email. Email has become the lifeblood of modern
society. An interesting social experiment would be to see what
happens to a group of young professional people who suddenly
have all means of electronic communication taken away from them.
Email has become as much a part of our lives as the electric
lightbulb, air transport and mobile phones.

What happens if we don’t implement spam control globally? What
would happen if all the mail server spam filters and regulations
controlling spam were suddenly abolishesd? Chaos online! The
online world would grind to a screeching halt as email servers
become overloaded with the flood of spam. Global bandwidth would
be consumed by as each spammer sends out hundreds of millions of
junk emails per day.

Without spam control businesses would be crippled. Critical
emails would be lost amongst a deluge of porn, viagra and breast
enlargement type emails.

Without spam control home use of email and the Internet in
general would suffer from massive delays in sending and
receiving of email, a 100x increase in the amount of spam email
received. Internet connection speeds would be adversely affected
with ISPs struggling to keep their servers online while their
bandwidth is being choked by spam.

IT analysts estimate that by 2006 the average internet user can
expect to receive at least 1,500 pieces of spam per month. This
is a conversative estimate. Agressive action is needed to stem
the flood of spam. ISPs supporting spam must have their assests
seized. Spammers must be prosecuted and their equipment
confiscated. If we do not actively work to control spam then we
only have ourselves to blame.

The Internet is a shared resource used by us all. Spam control
must increase and improve in efficiency and effectiveness for us
to retain control of our virtual lives.

A Diamond Is Forever

July 31st, 2007

Diamonds are still a girl’s best friend, right? We love the shiny gems. They are the most popular rocks sold today. But what exactly are they, anyway? Where do they come from? What else are they used for?

Diamonds are a mineral in one of the two crystalline forms
of the element carbon. They are the hardest natural
substance man knows. Diamonds are sold as gems, and
used
in industrial applications for smoothing, cutting, and
polishing hard materials.

Diamonds are most famous for crystallizing in the common
colorless form. They may also be tranlucent to transparent
white, yellow, green, blue, or brown. Diamonds have a high
refractive index which is why they are so brilliant and
sparkly after cutting. The familiar shape of the diamond is
the octahedron.

The most brilliant diamonds become gemstones for jewelry
and
other uses. For those that don’t make it to gems, there
are other options. There is bort, which is a more poorly
crystallized or undesirable color and in fragmentary
condition, and carbonados which is gray to black opaque.
Bort and carbonados are used as abrasives for the cutting
of
diamonds and the cutting heads of industrial rock drills.

Diamonds are found in alluvial formations and in volcanic
pipes, filled for most of their length with blue ground or
kimberlite, and igneous rock consisting primarily of
serpentine. Diamond yielding earth is mined by both the
open-pit method and by underground mining. After removal
to
the surface, the soil is crushed and concentrated. Passing
the concentrated material in a stream of water over greased
tables does the needed sorting. The diamond is largely
water
repellent and sticks to the grease and the other minerals
retain a film of water, which prevents the sticking to
the grease. Then the diamonds are removed from the
grease,
cleaned, and graded for sale and use.

The earliest sources of gem diamonds were India and
Borneo.
Some famous diamonds are the Great Mogul, Regent, and
Pitt.
Other famous diamonds include the Hope (blue), Dresden
(green) and Tiffany (yellow). In the early 18th century,
deposits similar to those in India were found in Brazil,
mainly of carbonados. In 1867 a stone found in South Africa
was recognized as a diamond. Within a few years began a
wild
search for diamonds. In 1870-1871, dry diggings including
most of the celebrated mines were discovered.

Synthetic diamonds were successfully produced in 1955; a
number of small crystals were produced when pure
graphite mixed with a catalyst was subjected to pressure of
about 1 million lb per sq in. and temperature of the order
of 5,000-F (3,000-C). Synthetic diamonds now are
extensively
used for industry, mainly due to the ease of obtaining and
lower cost for them. Diamonds are still very popular and
symbolize many things. Their popularity does not seem to
be
dwindling any time in the near future.

The author became fascinated with diamonds from an early
age. She has studied diamonds and their various uses.
Without diamonds, many products that we enjoy and use on
a daily basis would not exist.

She consults with various industries worldwide to help them
to understand diamonds uses in their manufacturing
processes.

E-Gold

July 31st, 2007

E-gold is a digital currency, used extensively on the Internet for making payments in exchange for goods and services.

It is one of the first digital e-currency providers, having started in 1996. E-gold accounts are backed by actual physical gold, dollar for dollar. You can take delivery of the physical gold if you wish, although there is an additional handling charge.

The E-gold e-currency is tied directly to the value of gold, so it’s not possible to use outside influences to affect the value of it… unless one has the ability to affect the spot price of gold. Being tied to the price of gold, e-gold accounts fluctuate up and down with the value of national currencies as they move with the spot price of gold.

While gold is the most popular precious metal digital currency in use, E-gold also offers the platinum, palladium and silver precious metals as digital currency.

Funding an e-currency account is the job of a third party called a Market Maker. A market maker is a merchant who exchanges national currencies for e-currencies, and places them in your online currency account. Similarly, they will buy your ecurrency and pay you in your national currency when you wish to exchange your egold for currency.

You can fund an e-gold with paypal, or buy e-gold with a credit card if you wish, though the market maker will charge up to 15% to do so. This is largely because of the cost to him of fraudulent charge backs.

E-currencies are now accepted fairly extensively by online merchants in exchange their products and services, mainly catering to people, who for whatever reason, don’t have or can’t get, a credit card.

Pleasures and Dangers of Rockhounding Abandoned Mine Areas

July 31st, 2007

There is nothing quite like finding an abandoned mine site for the rock and treasure hunter. These areas, needless to say, are loaded with dangers, but when you go to a mine site with an awareness of the dangers, a clear head, and with common sense in full function, you can count on many hours of entertaining and, often, rewarding search.

Tailings and site areas can contain a wide variety of mineral and gem material. Because miners
were basically interested in what they were mining for in particular, other materials were often
overlooked and discarded in the tailings. Some of the nicest crystals I have ever found have
come from mine tailings. I have also found tourmaline, garnet, sapphire and many other minerals.

What you can find will vary by area, but you can often pick up some of the mined materials as
well. A caution about tailings is that they may contain the residue of mining chemicals, radiation,
and sometimes, especially in gold mining areas, arsenic (arsenic is actually a metal found in rocks
and can be very concentrated in gold mining areas).

Tailings are not the only areas you want to hunt when looking for gem materials. Any small
ravines under the mines will catch materials that roll downhill and are often ignored by hunters.

Any railroad track areas leading from mining areas are great places to hunt for the mineral mined
in that area as rocks would tumble from trains in transport. If you can find a spot that a train has
derailed and hunt downhill, you are bound to turn up quantities of mineral bearing rock on the
mountainside. Library news archives are great places to find old news articles about such events,
so you may want to do some research if you are planning your trip out in advance. It is a good
idea to check with local Chamber of Commerces before heading out to the area. They can tell
you about restricted hunting areas or sometimes will know of good areas not listed on maps.

They can also tell you if the rocks in that area contain any radioactivity before hunting in that area
or use scanning devices when you get there if you have one. Uranium might be valuable but you
really don’t want to unwittingly wallow in it.

Artifacts are another great attraction in mining areas. It is not at all uncommon to find old coins,
tools, and weapons in tailings and around the mining site. Sometimes you will get lucky and find
mine camps with the remains of old buildings or miners cabins. Searching these areas can turn
up all kinds of articles left or lost my miners. When hunting artifacts you want to check building
walls and floors, fireplace walls, and to the right and left of outside of doors as many times these
people buried or hid their belongings and caches in such spots. In cases of the owners
unexpected death, these items sometimes remain where they were hidden.
Old buildings on or around mine sites can contain their own dangers, however. Many old miners
cabins and buildings have mine shafts in the buildings. Stepping on old boards that cover the
shaft can be a rude and final awakening for the careless hunter. Any time you enter an old cabin,
be very careful about where you step. Make sure the boards are solid and that you have footing
that will allow you not fall through if a board should give out. Some of these shafts can run
hundreds of feet straight down and don’t allow much hope of survival if you should fall into them. If
you see that a piece of flooring is noticeably different from the rest, or noticeably removable, do
not step on it for any reason unless you can actually see that there is solid ground right
underneath you. Never guess about this one as a wrong guess may be the last one you ever get.

Old mining areas will invariably contain one or more mining shafts or a tunnel. These need to be
avoided at all costs. Never step on a board over a mining hole. Even if a hole is filled in and
looks solid, it can’t safely be assumed to be safe. Sometimes enough debris will collect to make
the hole look solid, but you may get a very rude surprise if you step down onto it. Tunnels hold
many dangers and should not be explored no matter how safe they appear.

There is no way to
smell cyanide gas, but you only have to inhale once for it to kill you. Many old gold tunnels are full
of this gas. False bottoms, bottoms that appear solid but are not, or unstable tunnel walls,
beams, and ceilings are another danger. Tunnels are enticing, but your best and safest bet is to
keep your hunting to the the outside of the tunnel. If you have children or pets with you when you
explore near shafts and tunnels, you need to keep them under close supervision. I personally
know people who can tell you what it feels like to lose a child in a mine shaft.

While old mining areas do hold many dangers, they also are interesting and productive places to
gem and treasure hunt. With a little common sense and an awareness of the dangers of mining
areas, a hunter can have a wonderful time exploring these historic sites.

How To Buy A Flash Drive

July 31st, 2007

Whether you call them flash drives, thumb drives, or usb keys, storage devices with flash memory are currently the most efficient, most versatile means of storing and transporting computer data. Offering true plug-and-play functionality, the drives allow you to take large amounts of data on the road without worrying about whether the computer on the other end will be able to read your data.

When shopping for a flash drive, consumers are faced with an overwhelming variety of choices. Over the last year, dozens of manufacturers have gotten into the game, offering ever-smaller devices, with ever expanding storage capacity. Drives as small as a stick of gum now offer hundreds of megabytes — even gigabytes of storage. And prices continue to fall.

With so many devices on the shelves, its no wonder that people are confused. Worse, there seems to be little practical advice available. As a result, I regularly find myself advising my colleagues, on which devices they should buy.

The main difference in the flash drives is in the price and storage capacity. There also are some secondary considerations surrounding additional features.

The first thing you need to do is to figure out what kind of storage capacity you’re going to need. If you are going to tote a few Word files, for example, you probably won’t need very much in the way of storage a 128MB stick will be plenty. But if you’re going to carry a lot of pictures or graphics files, you’re going to need much more capacity 512MB, or more.

I have a couple of fairly large (513mb) sticks that I use to transport the PowerPoint files I use in my classes. The individual files tend to be very large because of the large number of images that I use in those slideshows. I also have a 32MB stick that I use to hold all the worksheets and handouts for all of my classes for both semesters.

In general, though, more is better. You will never be disappointed at having too much space — only in not having enough.

Be sure that the drive is designed for USB 2.0, but is backwards compatible. Many older computers (such as the ones at my school) have only USB 1.1 ports. The safest thing to do is to have one that covers all of your bases.

Another consideration is the physical size of the stick. The general thought seems to be that smaller is better. But smaller also means that it’s easier to lose. I personally shy away from the very tiny ones.

The shape of the flash drive also needs to be considered. Most of the drives are rectangular, but a few look like a lipstick, or are bullet shaped, or have other unique designs. While a different design may help the manufacturer distinguish his products, consumers need to be sure that the drive actually will fit into the available USB ports on the computers they want to use.

The peculiar angled design of the front usb ports on the computers used at my school means that only a long, narrow flash drive will fit. Any other shape requires the user to poke around on the back of the machine. The ports on the back also have the unfortunate characteristic of being too tightly spaced, so round drives cannot be plugged in at the same time as the usb printer cable.

You also should pay attention to the design of the cap that covers the USB plug on the drive. Many are attached to the drive with a small string (a good idea). Other flash drives come with a spare. I am constantly losing my caps, and the spares come in handy. Some of the newer drives have retractable USB plugs, or swivel designs that eliminate the need for a cap entirely.

Durability and reliability are also considerations. While I have never had a flash drive fail, I know that they can. Thus, I tend to stick with name brand manufacturers. While you can get a very cheap drive from an unknown producer, it may not be worth the risk.

If security is an issue, many of the manufacturers provide software that allow you to password protect your flash drive. In most of these, you can designate separate areas of your drive as “public” and “private.” Others offer flash drives with biometric security features (they actually read your fingerprints).

Whether you need the security depends upon your level of paranioa. I have never used the password feature on my flash drives, and don’t take the feature into consideration.

A recent trend is to offer drives with additional (and to my mind useless) features such as built-in MP3 players and voice recorders. Don’t bother paying for these features. If you want an MP3 player, buy an MP3 player. You’ll be much happier with the sound quality and ease of use on a device built for the task.

Finally, don’t get caught up in the manufacturer’s hype. My colleagues will often show me an ad and point out that a particular drive is “fast” and “multimedia compatible.”

They’re all fast. (And if one is faster than another, its undetectable by anyone other than the geekiest of humans) And they all can store photos, graphics and movies (assuming you have enough storage space). Anything that you can store on a computer, you can store on a flash drive.

In general, the best prices that you’re going to get are online. I recommend looking at a couple of likely suspects at your local office supply mega-mart, and then going online to compare prices.

Finding the Perfect Engagement Ring for the Bride-to-be

July 30th, 2007

Do you know how the tradition of wearing an engagement ring on the fourth finger of the left hand started? The ancient Egyptians started this tradition symbolizing undying love as they believe the love vein Vena Amoris ran directly from this finger to the heart. Later in AD 860 the Pope Nicolas I made this practice of wearing gold engagement ring official.

Here are some engagement ring ideas.

You want to be unique. Consider getting a colored diamond. They are rarer than white diamonds. In fact, only one in 10,000 diamonds is a colored one. The colors range from yellow, pink and blue. Remember Jennifer Lopez’s infamous pink diamond engagement ring ? A pink diamond ring is extremely rare and very expensive with prices starting from more than a hundred thousand. Yellow diamond is more common than the other colors and is definitely more attainable for a well to do couple. Generally, colored diamonds cost 25 to 50% more than white diamonds. In either case, choose a quality diamond by looking at the 4Cs.

Couples are also opting for bigger diamonds. The traditional one carat engagement ring has been superseded by 3 to 5 carat diamonds.

There are many new ideas for engagement rings. You can choose new diamond settings too. I understand round diamond is the most popular followed by the princess cut. The bezel setting is now very popular . Instead of the diamond being elevated, it is surrounded by metal. How about a tension set diamond engagement ring? The diamond seems to float and is actually held on its edges. It looks very cool.

Three stone rings are also hot now, the bigger center diamond is accented on both sides by smaller stones of the same shape. Guy Ritchie and Madonna,Phil Bronstein and Sharon Stone are two of the hottest Hollywood couples currently sporting them.

If you really want to be unique, consider antique diamond or heirloom diamond jewelry where the cutting was actually done manually by craftsman. You can then take out the old setting and place the diamond in a new modern setting. Alternatively, you can also consider getting a new diamond to be placed in your old setting thus making it unique.

The choice of metal is also important. Platinum is sought after for its hypoallergenic properties. It is stronger and heavier than gold and will remain tarnish free forever compared to gold. Other innovative use of metal include two toned rings and even rings that combine three metals.

If you want different gemstone, consider alternative gemstones like Sapphires, rubies and emeralds.

If money is an issue, consider getting a gemstone that looks like the real thing such as Cubic zirconia or moissanite. Moissanite rates an impressive 9.25 on the Mohs scale ( a diamond is a perfect 10) which is harder than emeralds and rubies.A one-carat moissanite cost about $500 while a diamond of the same size may set you back by $6,000. You can always upgrade to a diamond ring on your next wedding anniversary.

Stress - The Main Cause Of Adult Acne

July 30th, 2007

The latest statistics from the American Dermatological society suggests that adult acne is much more widespread than most of us imagine, more and more adults are getting acne then ever before. In fact almost 50% of women and 25 % of men are affected by adult acne, at some point in their lives.

Like teenage acne the exact cause of adult acne remains largely unknown. However one of the biggest contributing factors to adult acne is increased levels of stress that people now suffer from. For many, adult acne seems to come out of the blue, while others get it in there teens and never seem to get rid of it. Nobody really knows why so many more people are getting adult acne later on in life, but there does appear to be a clear link with stress.

Stress is thought to interfere with the normal hormonal balance. If you’ve been under a lot of pressure recently and you’ve started suffering from adult acne, the best thing you can do, is to address the source of the stress. Until the stress is under control you won’t see a dramatic improvement in your acne.

The standard treatments for adult acne are similar to those employed for teenage acne using mainly topical products, many of which contain benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is used to kill the P. Acnes located in the clogged pores. The use of topical solutions (creams, gels or lotions) targets the result or symptoms of acne and not the cause. It also often dries not only “pimples” but also the skin around them. In adult acne it is especially important to limit the number of pimples since dermatologists have known for many years that adult acne is more likely to leave permanent physical scars. The increase prevalence of scarring or pox marks is due to the fact that as the skin ages and loses collagen, it’s much harder for the skin to repair itself after tissue damage that is caused by inflammation and enlarged pores associated with acne.

Despite the fact that acne is one of the world’s most common medical problems, it is still thought of as being very much a teenage problem. Very little thought is given to the significant psychological effects that the victim may suffer as a result of an outbreak of adult acne. The net result may be in feelings of anxiety and apprehension in leaving the home, and interacting with other adults. These issues must be resolved as part of the long term treatment of the disease.

acne treatments, which you can readily research on his website.
