Canon PowerShot A620 Review

September 29th, 2007

Is there such a thing as a perfect digital camera? Because many people prefer different features and different things when it comes to digital cameras, there is most definitely not one camera that is perfect for everyone. There are, however, some cameras that are practically perfect for most people, including the Canon PowerShot A620.

The Canon PowerShot A620 delivers such quality pictures, you will not be able to believe that you have done without it for so long. The Canon PowerShot A620 is also very versatile – it is not just your basic point-and-shoot camera. It has many different settings so that you can be creative and customize your shots.

In addition to all of its point-and-shoot features, the Canon PowerShot A620 can take 58mm filters by using the lens adapter which twists on and has a screw in at the wide end where you would normally put on the wide angle lens or telephoto lens. The adapter can act like a lens hood. Also, the this Canon has practically no shutter delay, and most Canon PowerShot A620 reviews agree that the flappable LCD screen is an excellent feature.

As if these great features of the Canon PowerShot A620 were not enough, the camera also has features that really keep the user in mind. It even has a special setting called “kids and dogs.” You know how kids and dogs will never sit still long enough for you to get a great photo. Well, with the “kids and dogs” setting on your Canon PowerShot A620 digital camera, your photos of your precious babies will come out clear.

The Canon PowerShot A620 has an awesome 7.1 megapixels of resolution and a 4x optical zoom / 4x digital zoom. It comes with auto and manual focus and also auto and manual exposure. It takes 4 “AA” batteries and has a movie mode with sound.

For optimal photo storage, it is suggested that you purchase a 256 MB card so that you can hold more photos than the 32 MB Secure Digital card that comes with the Canon A620 digital camera.

Concept of E-Learning Solutions: Better or Worse

September 29th, 2007

E-learning, which is at present a major area of growth in the
information sector, is the word for education by means of the
electronic media. And as a result of widespread computer
networking, the increasing accessibility of the internet and the
easy availability of web development tools, E-learning now has a
wider array of development and delivery technologies. And what
more, this type of learning has been seen as cost effective as
well.

However, the cost of E-learning services depend on many factors
like, the kind of Web infrastructure in place, the complexity of
programming required and the length of courses. But, on the
whole, it’s been found that an e-learning course costs about
half as mush as an instructor-led course. So, a main advantage
associated with E-learning is the cost and flexibility. There
are many flexible learning plans to choose from in E-learning
services. E-learning also considerably speeds up the process of
learning interaction and storage and delivery of information. It
also leaves room for customization of learning materials.

With E-learning services, courses are available online and can
as a result be easily and quickly updated, in just a matter of
minutes. Also, you don’t need programmers or technical people
for it. And there’s also a good level of accountability, with
automated scoring/reporting that can tell you if you’ve learned
anything from the course. These courses can also be easily
formulated. The already existing courses and documents can be
copy-pasted to create a new course. Also, as many companies are
realizing, E-learning is an inexpensive way to train customers
on the products and services of your company. This in turn will
lead to improved customer loyalty and supplier relationships at
reduced cost.

And the best place to E-learning service providers is India. The
experienced E-Learning services providers of India will help to
ensure that you don’t miss out on any of the benefits of
E-learning as well as ensuring its success. E-Learning services
providers in India will also help to make the already existing
training materials and infrastructure more effective by
designing and developing a more cost-effective and better
quality system.

There are many other advantages to opting for E-Learning
services providers in India. They’re more cost effective than
E-learning service providers in other countries. Also, the cost
competitiveness of Indian web development and E-learning service
providers can be exploited to your advantage. E-Learning
services providers in India functions as a sound part of your
organization and will extend their expertise to deliver quality
web content development and E-learning services.

And for this purpose, the E-Learning services of India offer
diverse teams of motivated and skilled professional consultants
with ample experience in IT applications development and
integration, e-Business Development & Integration, Client/Server
Systems, and Technical Writing. They also have the knowledge and
experience required to understand your business and technical
requirements and help you design solutions for your present
needs as well as any future requirements. So, grab this
opportunity and watch yourself leave your competitors behind.

MLB Spring Training 2006: New Players

September 29th, 2007

There are many new players starting in spring training this year. Bringing new players is always exciting for the team, the league, and the fans. Fans who go to spring training enjoy seeing new talent and are impressed by someone who is new and has never played on the majors before. Many people who follow college baseball are excited to see a player that they liked in the major leagues. It is fun to watch the players practice and learn how to play baseball as a team.

New players have a challenge in front of them. Along with making new friends and moving to another part of the country, they have to learn how a new coach works the team. Some coaches are player favorites, some are not. Having a great coach in college does not mean the same in the majors.

During spring training, new players are expected to perform. They are assigned positions based on their experience and skill levels. There may be two or three people who can pitch, but one only one will be chosen and the others will be back ups. This goes for the rest of the positions. For older players, who are established, their positions might not change that much unless they have been injured or are getting older and cannot play certain positions as well anymore. This is the time for a new player to shine.

Taking over someone else’s position can be frightening at first, but once the player has expressed his worth to the team, the stress disappears.
New players should have fun and learn as much as they can during spring training. The months following spring training are tiresome. Traveling, playing games at different hours, sometimes two a day, can exhaust a player. But the joy of the game, the screaming fans, and the coaches, make the stress all worthwhile.

How And Why Of Giving Away Free Domain Names

September 29th, 2007

Perhaps you already know that it is possible to get a free domain name. However, have you ever wondered how a country can afford to give away its domain names for free? Why would a country just give away its domain names instead of charging for them?

1. Free Domain Names from Dot TK

It is possible to get a free top-level domain name from Dot TK (www.dot.tk).

According to their website, “Dot TK is a joint venture of the Government of Tokelau, it’s communication company Teletok and Taloha, Inc., a privately held company. The Government of Tokelau has appointed Taloha, Inc. as the exclusive registration entity.”

Of course, for free .tk domains, ownership remains with Dot TK. This means that you can’t sell it. As well, there are other restrictions and disadvantages of free .tk domains, including:

-You can register only a maximum of three free domain names;
-You need 25 visitors within a ninety day period;
-You need to have existing web content somewhere so that your dot tk name can be forwarded to it; and
-Dot TK uses frames to show your website. This being the case, you may have issues with navigation (bookmarking or finding specific pages) and search engine friendliness.

For serious business use, you might want to pay the nominal cost for a domain name.

2. Why Do They Offer Free Domain Names?

Still, it is free. Why would they do this when they could make money from the sale of domain names?

According to their website: “Why does Dot TK give away free domain names? We believe that the Internet was supposed to be ‘Free’. Meaning no charges, payments or expected return favors.”

3. How Can They Afford to Give Away Free Domain Names?

This logically leads us to our next question: How can they afford to give away free domain names?

Dot TK makes money from paid domain names, including some special and trademarked names.

To help support Dot TK, you can optionally have an ad displayed on your website. Thus, they do receive some advertising revenue from this. However, the big money would be in the sponsorship by large corporations.

4. Other Free Top-Level Domain Names

By the way, this is not the only ccTLD (country code Top-Level Domain) that gives away some domain names for free.

As just one example, cg is the ccTLD for the Republic of Congo. Each of its citizens and lawful residents are allowed one free .cg domain name.

5. Free Subdomain Names

Additionally, subdomain names are also available for free. For example, eu.org states on their website that their goal “is to provide free subdomain registration to users or non-profit organizations who cannot afford the outrageous fees demanded by some NICs, especially in Europe.”

As well, nr is the ccTLD name for the Republic of Nauru. You can receive a free subdomain name from co.nr. Thus, your domain name could be something like yourcompany.co.nr.

Why do countries give away free domain names? They want their citizens and others to be able to enjoy the benefits of domain name use without cost being an issue. It can also be a promotional method designed to get the word out about their ccTLD.

How can these countries afford to give away free domain names? Advertising revenue and the sale of paid domains are two ways of funding free domain names.

Control Your Pain! A Behavioral Approach to Lessen or Eliminate Your Back Pain

September 28th, 2007

Stress and Chronic Pain Management

Since 1977, I’ve been offering stress management and biofeedback to people suffering from chronic pain. Both within inpatient pain management facilities and in out patient pain management clinics. Stress does not cause chronic pain, but it can make the intensity of chronic pain worse. People suffering pain develop a habitual response to their constant companion. By “bracing” to deal with their pain, people begin to produce muscle tension that can increase pain or that can interfere with the ability to get a better quality of sleep. A deep, restful sleep can help us to tolerate or to cope with our pain. Poor sleep can make us more irritable and more susceptible to the anxiety that increases pain.

In many chronic back pain patients, their back pain can be much worse when they unconsciously tighten their legs, neck, shoulders, or other back muscles as a response to their pain. These muscles are attached to bones. In the case of muscles attached to vertebrae, these tight muscles can cause irritation to nerves that move from the spinal cord to the various body parts that they serve. When tight muscles cause “pinching” to these nerves, or to the blood supply that feeds these nerves, the nerves can respond by being irritated and adding to discomfort or numbness. Pain that is not caused by soft-tissue injury, like osteoarthritis, can create the tension that causes fatigue, poor sleep, and possibly additional muscle-contraction pain (like tension headaches, jaw pain, or neck/shoulder tension.)

With few exceptions, people with chronic pain benefit from stress management and, in many cases, use biofeedback to help then get back in control of the levels of pain that they are experiencing. Biofeedback can measure levels of muscle tension and can help with learning to reduce the muscle tension. Temperature training biofeedback can assist patients in learning to release or to “let go” of their anxiety and this can help to reduce the intensity of their pain complaints.

Chronic pain patient respond to a variety of Western relaxation techniques. One technique, Autogenic Training phrases, is a series of mentally repeated phrases that command relaxation such repeating “my right arm is heavy” until the muscles of that arm relax to the point where it feels heavy, comfortable and relaxed. Progressive relaxations, visualizations, indirect suggestions, and even certain breathing techniques have all been very useful for people suffering with chronic pain complaints. These techniques do not work as fast as medications. They require regular practice and it may take 8-12 weeks for the benefits to begin. The advantage is that these techniques do not have the side-effects that medication might. Once these techniques are learned, there are no ongoing costs. And, most importantly, these stress management techniques offer the sense of personal control over the pain. The motivated person will develop a powerful, life-long skill by mastering these techniques.

There several articles at the Stress Education Center’s website that will be very helpful to chronic pain patients and their families. These are articles that have been taken from my book, “Guide to Stress Reduction” which is available through the library or to purchase. If you are suffering from chronic pain, you can do something to help yourself. I can’t promise that the pain will leave and never return, but you can learn to help control the intensity of your pain and possibly reduce your long-term reliance on pain medications. Discuss these strategies with your doctor to determine how you can best use these tools to participate in managing your pain.

How To Tell A Test Quiz Before It Bites You On The Nose

September 28th, 2007

Q. My teacher says that we are going to have a test quiz next
week. Isn’t that term a bit redundant? What in the world is a
test quiz?

A. Ah, the wiley test quiz. It’s an odd creature indeed and it
is very rarely encountered in the wild. In fact, you are a very
lucky student to have a teacher that even knows what a test quiz
is much less is wiling to administer one.

A test quiz is a preparatory quiz that is given in advance of a
major test. Its purpose is to familiarize you with the type of
questions that are going to be asked on the major test without
revealing the actual questions that will be asked.

For example, if you’ve ever taken the PSAT test, then you’ve
taken a test quiz. The PSAT test is designed to prepare you to
take the actual SAT tests that many colleges require high school
students to take before applying for admission.

The fact that your teacher is willing to give you a test quiz
means that he or she truly cares about you and wants you to do
well on the actual test that will soon follow. If you read
between the lines, you might also see where your teacher is
saying words to the effect of “the actual test is going to be
tough folks so I’m going to give you a test quiz, in advance, so
you’ll have a better idea what you’ll need to study.”

There aren’t many teachers who are willing to take the time to
write a test quiz and that’s the reason why most students will
never see one in the “wild”.

Take advantage of you teacher’s generosity and study well for
your test quiz. The chances are you’ll see the same concepts in
the actual test that you saw in the test quiz. If you do well on
the test quiz then you’ll probably do well on the test itself.
If you fail the test quiz, however, you’d better hits the books
harder and leave the partying until after the test.

Finding Distribution

September 28th, 2007

Finding a distributor is hard. It can take months and months
before you find and secure a distributor, which is not an easy
process for independent labels or individuals.

Don’t give up or get discouraged; keep plugging away, even if
you can’t find a distributor after months of searching.
Distributors get a lot of packages on their desks every week, so
it’s imperative that you contact them first before you send them
a package. When calling a distributor, you may get them on the
first try, or it may take you weeks before you get a live person
to talk to.

If you don’t contact them first, and send a package to them
unsolicited, it might get tossed or sent back unopened. But you
may think, ‘My product is awesome! They would never do that with
mine.’ Sorry to bring you bad news, but your package may never
get opened. As a matter of fact, it may never get past the
receptionist’s desk without prior clearance. So why not make
sure that your product has a much better chance of getting heard
by getting permission first?

For those of you who feel you could never make any cold calls,
you will have to get over it, or have a friend do the calling
for you. Getting through the first phone call is always tough,
but then you will see, as you make more and more calls, that it
gets easier every time. You are in competition with a lot of
people who are making the calls. If you don’t call, the chances
are very slim that you will ever be heard.

If, after the first time you call, you still feel that you are
just too embarrassed, try making up a character and make your
call as that character. Become “Jicki Wicki” from “Nagawicki.”
(You never know; it could lead to an additional career of
acting!) Make it a game.

It is important that you submit your CD to a distributor that
distributes your kind of music. The person you send it to is not
necessarily the person in charge of final decisions. From the
time you start contacting them, it may take you six to eight
months to get the actual product in their hands and get them to
finally listen to it, before you find the right distributor.
Once you finally get one, it can take an additional few months
to get added to their database. Here are few words of advice on
finding a distributor:

* On your first call, tell them your name and label. If you
haven’t picked a name yet, make one up. * Ask about their
submission and distribution policies. * Ask if being the only
act on an indie label is going to cause a problem. Many
distributors will not take products from Indie labels unless
they have at least three to fifteen CDs in their ’stable.’
Additionally, many distributors will not take you on unless you
already have established airplay. The catch-22 is that many
radio stations, while they may play an independent artist, will
only do so if they have national distribution. * Ask what they
want in the press kit. Some want an entire press kit with a CD
(forego sending a headshot unless specifically asked for one),
while others just need a letter of summary which contains recent
happenings, targeting ideas, and review excerpts, if you have
any. It’s important to find out this information beforehand. We
found out, after much wasted time and money, that several
distributors only wanted the letter. They had opened the
package, read the tear sheet, and thrown the rest away. Once we
started calling frequently, they asked for the whole package
again. What a waste of resources! * In your letter/press kit
they will want to know your “SRP,” which is your Suggested
Retail Price. For those of you who are unfamiliar with retail
versus wholesale, retail is the price the consumer would pay in
a music store and wholesale is the price the distributor pays to
the product owner.

My suggestion for SRP is $11.98 - $12.98. You don’t want to
price yourself out of the market. When you look in a music
store, most major-label artists’ CDs are “on sale” for $11.98.
Distributors will typically take 40-60% of your SRP as their cut
(which at 40% x $11.98 gives you $7.19 per CD), and the music
stores will typically mark up your SRP by $1.00 - $4.00. If you
set your SRP at $11.98, and the store adds an additional $2.00
to the price of your CD, the cost to the consumer would be
$13.98. However, if you set your SRP at $13.98 and the store
adds $2.00, the price to the consumer would be $15.98. Which
price do you think a consumer who had never heard of you would
be more likely to pay?

* Double-check what style of music they currently distribute. *
Ask if they require your music to be played on a particular
radio station.

There are some distributors that require you to be played on
specific stations before they will distribute you. If that
station does not play your genre of music, you have wasted your
product, money, and time. Let me give you an example of why this
is another key question. We had asked all of the above
questions, with the exception of this particular one. Then we
shipped off the package. When we contacted them later, they
asked us if we were playing on a certain radio station. We said
no.

It turned out that the station only played alternative music,
while our CD is Country/Jazz. You can see the problem. When we
approached them about this fact, they said they did not
distribute Country Music. We asked when they stopped
distributing Country Music. The gentleman we spoke with during
our initial call said he was considering presenting Country
Music to the company, but hadn’t had the chance. He realized
that we would never be played on the station on which they
require airplay, so he dropped it. A great example of wasted
time, effort, and money!

* Inquire where their distribution arm reaches. Ask for specific
states and regions. Some distributors only distribute in certain
states. If your radio airplay, live gigs, and promotion are not
in those regions, they cannot help you. * When is the best time
to reach them? * Who are some of the major stores they
distribute too, and in what areas? Call several of the stores
and double-check their references. If the stores have never
heard of them, they may not be a legitimate distributor. Save
your product from an unscrupulous person who may be trying to
rip you off.

This is just a sampling of things you must do in order to obtain
a distributor. Don’t forget to get your music listed with
iTunes, Sonymusic and all the other online distributors. Once
you actually obtain a distributor it’s an entirely different
playing field, and a lot of work, but well worth it. For
additional information, as well as contact names, address, phone
numbers, email, etc., check out my book, The Indie Guide To
Music, Marketing and Money.

Body Building and The Mediterranean Diet

September 28th, 2007

The Seven Basic Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet in Body Building

Introduction

As we move forward into the 21st century, more and more men and women are involving themselves in body building. In order to be successful at body building, a person needs to coordinate an ambitious exercise routine with an appropriate diet regimen. In the end, body building success depends as much upon what you do with your body in a gym as it does with what you put into your body at home.

Certain diet routines and plans have proven to be beneficial directly to the goals of body builders. One regimen that contains the elements of health eating that are essential for a dedicated body builder is found in the Mediterranean diet.

The Mediterranean diet is a perfect choice for an ardent body builder for seven basic reasons.

1. Body Building and Fruits and Vegetables

Nutrition experts believe that a typical diet should include at least five servings of fruits and vegetables during the course of a given day. A body builder needs to more than double this amount of fruits and vegetables. In this regard, the Mediterranean diet is ideal. In the Mediterranean diet, a person typically consumes upwards to over ten generous servings of fruits and vegetables throughout the day.

In body building, it is recommended that the fruits and vegetables included within the diet be taken in raw. (Steamed vegetables are acceptable. However, over steaming can result in a loss of some of the nutrients that naturally are contained in fruits and vegetables.)

2. Body Building and Raw Foods

Various raw foods, including fruits and vegetables, are also rich in anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants “clean up” oxidants that can form in the body. Oxidants are the negative byproduct of oxygen burnt within the body for energy. Anti-oxidants assist a body builder on many fronts, including lessening muscle atrophy which can be a significant problem in a body builder as he or she ages.

3. Benefits of Protein for the Body Builder

Protein is the essential ingredient necessary to build body mass — which is the ultimate goal of the body building in training. Through the Mediterranean diet, a person interested in pursuing a healthy course of body building can take in protein through lean meats and whole grains.

4. Embracing a Diet Low in Saturated Fat

Saturated fats are destructive to any reasonable body building routine. Obviously, one of the ultimate goals of body building is to eliminate unnecessary and unwanted fat from the body.

While working out is a surefire way of eliminating fat, it is also important for a body builder to elect a dieting course that is low in saturated fat. The Mediterranean diet fits this bill perfectly. Although a person utilizing the Mediterranean diet will be taking in calories from fat — primarily from olive oil which is used effusively in the diet regimen — the that is being ingested is not saturated.

5. Satisfying the Energy Demands of the Active Body Builder

A person following the Mediterranean diet draws in calories and “energy food” from three primary sources:

– carbohydrates

– protein

– unsaturated fat

The key benefit to the Mediterranean diet is rooted in the fact that it is balanced and draws energy in appropriate proportions from these three dietary sources. Because the diet is balanced by definition, your body does not end up operating “out of whack.” Through the Mediterranean diet you are able to obtain the extra energy boosts necessary for body building without causing your overall caloric and energy levels to end up out of balance.

6. Body Building and Moderate Portion Sizes

The key to establishing a beneficial diet to advance body building goals is eating in moderation at each meal. In addition, a body builder should elect to eat smaller meals throughout the day. Rather than the standard three square meals a day, a body builder is best served by eating six smaller, evenly spaced out meals throughout the day.

7. Diet Balance is Always the Key

In the end, the reason that the Mediterranean diet is so beneficial to body builders is precisely the same reason that it is a perfect plan for healthy eating for “average folk.” The Mediterranean diet is a solid plan because it consists of healthy food items eaten in balanced, appropriate proportions throughout the course of the day.

At last the answer to my prayers

September 28th, 2007

I am 71 years old and always believed in some way I could
generate an Internet income. I have tried many things but have
never given up, always believing I would find a way.

A few days ago a friend sent me an email advising me to take a
look at a particular website. He said someone by the name of
Brian Campbell who is a successful Internet Marketeer was giving
away a FREE training course like no other on the Internet.

So it not costing me anything to take a look, I punched in the
URL and downloaded it. I was amazed at what was there. Three
e-books and over twelve hours of videos with lots more to come.

He was giving anyone who wanted to take up the offer, the chance
to be as successful as himself doing exactly what he did,
leading you by the hand, step by step, nothing left out. Most of
the other “Guru’s” tell you how they did it, but Brian Campbell
shows you through the videos. It is just as if he was sitting
there with you, it is easy to understand, no techy mumbo jumbo.

One of the strategies he uses in order to be successful on the
Internet is what he calls the shotgun method. It is to be in a
niche market and he shows you how he finds a way to do this. He
advises to find a market that is big on sales. For example if it
were the health and nutrition market the keywords “health and
nutrition” would be so competitive that it would not be
advisable to just be in this market, so you would have to look
for products and services associated with this market. For
example a problem for people in the Health & Nutrition market
could be “high blood pressure” and you could have information on
how to combat this through natural products.

Taking the shotgun analogy as “health and nutrition” would be
the main market, where most of the shot would end up if fired at
a target, then as it splattered outward we would come to “high
blood pressure” and then further out we would come to “natural
remedy for high blood pressure”. This is just an example of how
this works. Our niche would be “Natural remedies for high blood
pressure”. .here the cost of all the associated keywords for
this market would not be so expensive.

This is just one of the many ideas and methods in this course
and it is all FREE. Too good to be true? YES but this time it is
TRUE. If you want to make it on the Internet I advise you taking
a look. I have found this to be so helpful and am indebted to my
friend for sending me the email. If you hang in there long
enough you will find a way. Thank you for reading this article
and I wish you every success.
