Reach vs. Frequency: Touch 100 Once or 25 Four Times?

January 28th, 2008

Reach and frequency are terms generally used when planning advertising campaigns. However, the concept of reach and frequency applies to any promotional activity you undertake: direct mail, direct selling, and even networking.

Reach is the number of people you touch with your marketing message or the number of people that are exposed to your message. Frequency is the number of times you touch each person with your message. In a world of unlimited resources you would obviously maximize both reach and frequency. However, since most of us live in the world of limited resources we must often make decisions to sacrifice reach for frequency or vice versa.

For example, an air conditioning repair service who has decided to do a direct mail piece has to decide whether to mail the entire Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex once or to mail a quarter of the Metroplex four times. An attorney who receives many of her clients through networking may have to decide whether to attend one weekly networking meeting or four different monthly meetings.

When faced with decisions of reach vs. frequency remember this rule of thumb:

Reach without Frequency = Wasted Money

Marketing is the process of building a business relationship with potential customers. Have you ever established a lifelong friendship with someone you had contact with only once? Probably not. Generally friendships (and all relationships for that matter) grow as a result of frequent contact over time. Even when the potential to form a great friendship is there at the first encounter, it is unlikely it will grow without nurturing.

Seth Godin in his book Permission Marketing uses an analogy of seeds and water to demonstrate the importance of assuring adequate frequency in your promotional campaigns. If you were given 100 seeds with enough water to water each seed once would you plant all 100 seeds and water each one once or would you be more successful if you planted 25 seeds and used all of the water on those 25 seeds?

While intuitively and even conceptually we understand the importance of frequency to successful promotional and sales campaigns, somehow when it comes to actually implementing the campaign, we opt to sacrifice frequency for reach. And then we complain about the ineffectiveness of our promotional efforts. Undoubtedly one of the biggest wastes of marketing dollars is promotional activities that are implemented without adequate frequency.

When faced with the decision of mailing one direct mail piece to 10,000 people or mailing to 2,500 people four times think about the fate of those 100 seeds you can water only once. Unless you have water rights and can obtain additional water, opt for less reach and more frequency.

Locusts for Lunch?

January 28th, 2008

Locusts for Lunch?

Could bugs be the next cuisine trend?

Just imagine it: ‘Restaurant Arthropod’s’.

Now serving: Locust Louis; Mealy Bug Meatloaf; Centipede Souffle; Moth Broth; Mosquito Fahito au jus.; Chigger Juice.

Insects for Dinner?
<>

<>No-no, not the squashed fly between the pages of your plastic menu or the little roach that scrambles out from under your plate in a restaurant, but the one that gets delivered in your dinner on purpose.

Consider the possibilities…

<> Arthropods, or organisms with jointed legs are clearly related to lobsters, crabs and other edible beings in the ocean. It’s been determined that lobsters are actually sea-going cockroaches and in addition, lobster exoskeletons also have the same jointed legs and antennae as grasshoppers.

In comparison, grasshoppers should be more desirable than lobsters. Grasshoppers eat clean grass; lobsters eat sea garbage like dead fish and other remains on the murky ocean floor.

Of course we all eat some insects unknowingly. Aphids cling to lettuce leaves, and weevils and beetles can reside in flour and rice undetected. The FDA actually has a measurement of ‘acceptable’ insect presence in food.

You might consider the nutritional angle. Termites have considerably more protein than a steak, for example and that protein has more amino acids essential to our diet than any other animal.

Insects can be ‘farm raised’. You can breed them like cattle, and in a smaller space with less odor!

They could be marketed as a simple solution to world hunger. (Many nations already commonly eat insets, by the way.) There are over five million species roaming the earth, so we would definitely enjoy more variety in our dishes.

Rather than being crop destroyers, they would be the crop.

If you are curious, why don’t you pick up the book, ‘Entertaining with Insects’, and try out a few dishes at your next formal dinner party. And chefs, consider the colorful presentations you could make! Real butterflies……

I’ll bet that if you dipped them in chocolate you could get almost anyone to try one.

…We ate in a seafood restaurant last night and I sadly passed on the lobster tail.

Penis enlargement exercises

January 28th, 2008

Penis enlargement exercises are a good alternative with many guys who lack the time, the money or the inclination to try other male enhancement approaches. It is well known that some men view traction devices with distrust, while others are leery of pills. One really can’t blame others for refusing to swallow the first penis enlargement pills they come across on the specialized market. It’s only natural to be cautious when deciding whether to try something new or not, especially when dealing with products whose effectiveness is many times in doubt.

Still, penis enlargement exercises are the best option for both the cautious user and the beginner. You can never know exactly how pills are interfering with your system, but exercises are quite something else. The path from a small or average penis to a bigger and meatier one that dangles proudly between your legs is much more simple when every exercise is explained to you in advance. Not to mention that you are in full charge at all times, since you decide how long the exercise would take and can put an end to it anytime you like.

Beginners who aren’t sure what penis enlargement is and does can learn the basic principles a lot quicker with the help of this natural male enhancement approach. The exercises help to acquaint the user with the function of blood-flow, how to measure the penis size, how to help the tissues grow and the only fully natural way of getting a larger penis. Penis exercises, like the amazing Penis Health program, are really the best way of becoming acquainted with the concepts and aims of the male enhancement trend.

Penis enlargement exercises cost less than pills, devices or surgery, are by far the safest option available and have the same ultimate purpose as all the other methods: turning your small penis into a bigger penis and your weak erections into rock-hard erections nearly on demand. Try Penis Health today and you’ll be surprised at how easy and effective this program of exercises can be. Really, it’s as close to a win-win situation as you can get.

Characteristics Of The Rottweiler

January 28th, 2008

Characteristics of a Rottweiler
By Rachael Stacknick

Member of: www.web-rover.com

The Rottweiler

Origin: Rottweil Germany
Colors: Black with clearly defined tan or mahogany markings
Bred for: Guard and cattle drover’s dog
Coat: Coarse, short coat
Head and skull: Head is medium length, skull broad between the ears
Temperament: Good natured, not aggressive, nervous, or vicious. Courageous, obedient, with natural guarding instincts. The rottweiler with strangers is generally aloof and most times will not come up to a stranger wagging his tail.
Size: Dogs 25-27 inches, 23-25 inches for females
Weight: Dogs 85-115 pounds females 80-100 pounds
health Concerns: Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, Aortic Stenosis, Cataracts, Diabetes Mellitus, and certain types of cancer.

If you are going to own a rottweiler it is important that you are prepared to do obedience training with your dog. Rottweilers are powerful and very smart dogs. They have been known to be pushy with their masters if they believe that they have taken a step up the “pack” ladder. It is very important that your rottweiler knows it’s place in the “pack”. This comes with proper training, and the time and patience to work with your dog.

Rottweilers are a great family dog. A person who wants to own a rottweiler needs to make sure that they have time to spend with the dog as a rottweiler is known to “stick like glue” to their family. They have big hearts and are very loving and attentive. They can’t stand to be away from “their people” for huge amounts of time. If you are going to be away for a long period of time during a day or night I suggest you at least have someone come over to let your dog outside to relieve himself and have some human contact. On that note, rottweilers should not be left alone all the time to their own devices, this is when things can become very dangerous, remember this is a powerful dog things can be destroyed including the relationship between you and your dog. If you are looking for a dog that will sit outside and guard your house please do not get a rottweiler. Although they are a very imposing dog, and most will protect if need be, it is not fair to have a dog if your only reason for wanting one is to protect you!

Rottweilers have a very strong gait when they run, there should not be any hinderance in their walk or run. When running a rottweiler should have a smooth front reach and their back legs should move forward towards the front of their body. They should not splay their legs in or out. A rottweiler will need an area where they can run and play, they love to be clowns and show off for anyone who will watch.

Owning a rottweiler is a big step, from the constant socialization to the obedience training it can be taxing on someone. Getting your rottweiler from a non reputable breeder may set you up for problems with your rottweiler (i.e. health problems). Although nothing is assured when you buy a dog, it is better to have a little bit of understanding about genetic problems. I personally suggest for anyone who owns a rottweiler or is thinking of getting one that they have OFA certifications done on their dogs hip, elbows, eyes, and heart once they have reached the age of 18 months. Again this is not a for sure thing but you can rest a little easier knowing if they have found any signs of possible future problems. Be thorough, your dog deserves it!

So, if you are thinking about getting a rottweiler these tips are just a few of the things you need to think about. If you have studied the breed (which i highly suggest) and you still want a rottweiler then remember. They are big loving dogs that need just as much attention and affection as we do…..and they will love you all the more for it!

Get Instant Rapport On Sales Cold Calls

January 28th, 2008

Immediately establish rapport on cold-calls by matching your prospect’s voice qualities - tone, pace, and emotion. Matching the emotion, or mood, of your prospect is key. If you begin your call sounding excited when she is not, you will be immediately branded as a salesperson, and the prospect’s guard will be way up.

By matching her emotion, you immediately get her thinking “this person is like me”. And we all want to talk to people like us. Begin your call with a simple question to verify the prospect’s name even though you know who you are calling. This is your first chance to establish rapport.

Let’s say that the next name on your prospect list is Dave Jackson:

DJ - “Hello. This is Dave Jackson”

You - “Hello, is this Dave Jackson?”

DJ - “Yes it is.”

Repeat his name while matching his voice qualities - tone, pace, and emotion. You ask the name verification question, even though he stated his name, to break his thought pattern.

Then make a judgment about just how busy he is. If the prospect feels receptive go ahead and deliver your attention grabbing intro.

Do not ask if this is a good time to talk. If you do, you will only give him a chance to get rid of you before you have a chance to gain his interest.

If he sounds busy, tell him so, and ask when would be a good time to call back. He will likely ask why you are calling, giving you the perfect opening to deliver your attention grabbing introduction.

Quotes to Think About

January 27th, 2008

INSPIRATIONAL COMMENTS:

“There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation. - Herbert Spencer”

Albert Einstein - “We are seeking for the simplest possible scheme of thought that will bind together the observed facts.”

“If we do not expect the unexpected, we will never find it.” - Heraclitus

“Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” - William James

“I feel that if we could be serious for an hour and really fathom, delve into ourselves as much as we can, we should be able to release, not through any action of will, a certain sense of energy that is awake all the time, which is beyond thought.” - Jiddhu Krishnamurti, Madras, 1961

Heraclitus: “… conceded the existence of an over-riding, all-encompassing unity, in which the apparently contradictory opposites are all linked to one another, in a single, regular, cohesive system of balanced, harmonious measure and just order.”

“Consciousness is a singular of which the plural is unknown. There is only one thing, and that which seems to be a plurality is merely a series of different aspects of this one thing, produced by a deception, the Indian maya, as in a gallery of mirrors.” - Erwin Schrdinger

I think this means that all the talk about anomalous or truthful science is a bunch of you know what from the ego of man. We are ‘connected’ and our real self is not our ego. I am also of the opinion that he sees something I think is the nature of reality about the personality that some insist continues in such things as past-life regressions. Yes, perhaps through limbo and obsessions some things stay in this materially focused frame of reference (I have performed exorcisms) but when we are reborn all those memories of other lives are memories of a collective oversoul not anything like an individual soul. Maya and samsara or the ‘busy-mind’ do indeed deceive as he says - and though a few will gain great insight into the plural they will still be far from totally informed. Thus we must be open to all possibilities.

“Inherent to wave mechanics are the mechanisms of wave superposition and parallel and non-linear information processing. And these mechanisms, which are also affected and regulated by the laws of thermodynamics, are responsible for information growth and the evolution of biological matter. Information begets information.” - Laurent from Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Reach Out To Billions

January 26th, 2008

Have you heard of ‘Babel Fish’?

It’s a service provided by Alta Vista search engine people to translate every page you put ‘Babel Fish’ code, and up comes a a new language.

Your page may be written in English, but people across Spain and Latin America can translate your web page into Spanish. Likewise if your web page is written in Spanish, German, French, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, people can have an instant translation into English, or another language they are comfortable with.

I have put ‘Babel Fish’ code onto every page on my site at:- http://www.ebook-sales.com and I can see from the stats on the server that people are clicking on ‘Babel Fish’ to have a translation. This I feel, widens my audience out there in cyberspace. The ‘hit counter’ has substantially risen, I have people bookmarking my site, because I see they don’t all come in the ‘front door’ to the site, they come in to certain pages that interests them.

Every new page I put on my site, and I update fairly often, I make sure the ‘Babel Fish’ code is at the top of the html on that page.

The technology is certainly improving, I remember science- fiction movies when I was young had computers to instantly translate into any language, but the technology has only just arrived in reality and can be used widely on the web.

In previous articles I wrote about the Chinese market about to be opened up, for there are more people in China logging on to the internet every day. There are businesspeople in the west who are eyeing this market at the moment. To those people I would ask them to seek out some of my previous articles on Ideamarketers.com and take into account what I say there.

It’s also no good to the vast population of China, who do not speak any other language, to see sites always put up in English. Some attempt must be made to have parallel pages with Chinese throughout, or resort to the excellent technology that is ‘Babel Fish’, and as I know the corporate world moves grindingly slowly, the adept and astute entrepreneur could steal a march on their bigger, slower cousins.

Does your company pay a translation service to be able to send documents abroard?

Translation services are costly and slow. If you put your documents on a server in html and insert the code for ‘Babel Fish’ at the top of every page, you can send an email giving the address of the pages, you can also send a password to get into these pages, no one else will be able to view them, and this will avoid translation costs and slow turnaround of such a service.

Likewise technical manuals could be scanned into html pages, code for ‘Babel Fish’ inserted at the top of every page, upload the manual to a server, password protect, and your company, to people abroard, will look like something out of ‘Startrek’, and they will be confident in doing more business with you in the future.

There is only one thing that I have found personally, as I am an author and only write in English, I find if I compile an ebook to an .exe file, as most ebook-compilers do, the ‘Babel Fish’ code I already placed at the top of every html page before compilation, does not work. The pages are compiled into gibberish anyway, and I suppose the code for ‘Babel Fish’ the same.

It would be a great leap forward to me and other writers producing ebooks, to have a compiler that can have built-in translation facility into several languages.

If anyone can do this excellent programming idea, I would be the first to buy such a compiler. There lies the nub of a great business invention almost akin to the start of a great software company, like Microsoft.

Why not take this idea further, all movies could be made with built-in translation, all t.v. shows made with translation, to sell these shows abroard.

What else can you think of?

I remember an old saying:- “Whatever the mind of man can conceive, it can achieve!”.

Think about it!

The 10 Biggest Myth’s About Breast Augmentation in Beverly Hills

January 26th, 2008

Myth #1 - Breast Implants Can Cause Cancer

False: No studies or experimental data have ever been able to link breast implants with cancer.

Myth #2 - Breast Implants Must be Removed Every 10 Years

False: There is no specific data on duration of time for implant replacement. The implants may last a lifetime or only a few years depending on complications, including deflation, scar tissue formation or choice to change the size of the implants.

Myth #3 - I Should Never Wear an Underwire Bra with Implants

False: Underwire bras can and should be worn, but only once all healing has occurred. Over time, without proper support the weight of the implants can create significant sagginess and stretching of the breast tissue and skin.

Myth #4 - Shaped Implants are More Natural than Round Implants

False: Imaging studies of the chest have shown that both shaped (anatomical) and round implants appear to have a similar natural slope when properly placed under the muscle. One complication that can occur with shaped implants is rotation of the bag, which can lead to disfigurement.

Myth #5 - Loss of Sensitivity of the Nipple is Associated Only with the Periareolar Approach

False: Numbness can occur from any approach if the nerves are stretched or traumatized during surgery.

Myth #6 - Mammograms are Not Possible with Implants

False: Placement of the implants, either Silicone or Saline under the muscle will help with Displacement Technique Mammography and allows for excellent sensitivity results.

Myth #7 - Women Over the Age of 50 Should Not Undergo Breast Augmentation

False: Patients of any age may undergo the implant surgery as long as they are healthy, in good medical condition and free of breast cancer. Lab work is required for all surgery candidates, and a routine mammogram is required for anyone over the age of 35 or with a family history of breast cancer.

Myth #8 - Mammograms are Not Possible with Implants

False: Placement of the implants, either Silicone or Saline under the muscle will help with Displacement Technique Mammography and allows for excellent sensitivity results.

Myth #9 - The Most Common Reason for Reopening the Incision is the Patient’s Desire to Remove the Implant Entirely

False: Actually deflation, 18% and Capsular Contracture, also 18% are the #1 reasons for reopening, or undergoing a second procedure.

Myth #10 - More Women Desire to Go Larger on the Next Surgery and Believe That They Went Too Small Originally

True: Women become accustomed to the swelling that generally occurs during the first 2 - 3 months after surgery, when that subsides they miss the fuller feeling and desire to have slightly larger implants put in to compensate for the loss of the swelling.

Exercise Routine Made Simple

January 26th, 2008

How is it possible to enjoy a life full of pleasure without
healthy living? With this in mind, often people are in search
for an effective exercise routine that will get them in shape
and keep them there. Unusual training methods, fad diets and
overly extensive exercise routines are being pursued, with the
hopes of achieving a healthy body. Sadly more emphasis is placed
upon fad diets instead of regular exercise which has been
proven, over and over again, to be the most efficient path to
health living.

You do not need to join a fancy gym or hire an expensive
trainer… you can easily create your own exercise routine and
achieve great success, all in the comforts of your own home. In
creating your own exercise routine, to make it effective, focus
should be given to the principle of F.I.T.T. which is an acronym
Frequency, Intensity, Type and Time.

Frequency is the number of times you perform your exercise
routine, which depends on the primary goal for the exercise. If
your goal is to lose weight, then a more frequent routine should
be used or if you want to build muscle bulk, you should only
exercise each body part once every 3 or 4 days.

Intensity is the amount of physical exertion you invest per
routine and once more this depends on the goal for the exercise
routine, as well as the exercise type you decide to choose. If
you’re engaged in aerobic exercises, for example, intensity is
measured through your heart rate per a given period of time. The
intensity for muscle-toning exercises is measured through the
weights used, as well as the number of repetitions you do.

Type is the manner of exercise you use. Aerobics, weight loss,
muscle building (bulk) and muscle-toning exercise are all
examples of this and of course there is bound to be one that is
suited for any particular purpose.

Time refers to the length of time you invest per session; 20
minutes minimum for aerobic exercises, to keep your heart rate
up is a good example.

Any fitness goal can be achieved by adjusting and tweaking each
of these elements. If you need to lose weight, for example,
adjust the frequency and the time of your exercise routine. If
you want a more shapely muscled physique then correspondingly
increase the intensity of your sessions.

A few words of caution however, check with your doctor to ensure
the exercise routine your are initiating is safe for your
condition. Stretch before and after your exercise routines to
prevent injury and be prepared to be sore the first week.
Muscles that are not used often tend to get very sore when
suddenly used, even with light weights. This disappears around
the end of the first week… but be fore warned.
