The Be Safe Guide to First Dates: Female Version

March 29th, 2008

In the society we live in now, we all know you can never be too careful. One time you need to be extra cautious is when you are going on a first date, with someone whom you may not know very well. With all the horror stories we here in the news there are a few simple steps, we as women, need to take to protect ourselves on first dates.

1) Do NOT let your date pick you up at your house. As you don’t want someone you don’t know very well having your personal address just yet. Do meet someplace public, like a theater, bowling alley, or a mall. By meeting in public you discourage any activity by your date that may be unsafe to you and cause you harm. No one is going to willingly do anything harmful in the presence of bystanders.

2) Do drive yourself to your date. By driving yourself you have the ability to leave if at anytime you begin to feel uncomfortable during the date. If you do not have a vehicle make sure you have money for a cab or bus ride home if at any time you feel the need to end the date early.

3) Never let your date get your drink for you. If they do get a drink for you make sure it is an unopened container (such as a sealed bottle or can). Never allow them to get you a poured drink, because there are just too many horror stories surrounding date rape drugs. If you do decide to drink alcoholic beverages, make sure you do not have too many, as you do not want to impair your judgment and land yourself in an unsafe situation.

4) Do NOT give your home phone number out on the first date. As home phone numbers can be reverse searched and with that your home address be given out. You MAY give out your cell phone number, as of right now, you can not do reverse lookups on those.

These are just a few of my rules for first dates. Of course this doesn’t mean you can not have fun on your date, but you must be responsible. There are too many cases of missing women on the news to let yourself unknowingly become a victim. So, next time you are asked out remember these general rules, and you should have yourself a safe and fun date.

A Parent’s Instruction Manual

March 29th, 2008

Just when we seem to have parenting techniques that work with
the first child we discover that they don’t work with the next.
Wouldn’t it be great if children were born with instructions?
When you understand your children’s perceptual styles, you’ll
discover they really are born with an “instruction manual.”

Each of us is a unique combination of the Four Perceptions:
Audio, Feeler, Visual, and Wholistic. When children are born,
they are 100 percent Feelers. Although they will continue to
have sensitive feelings during their formative years, their
primary Perception will begin to reveal itself when they’re
about six months old.

The following is an excerpt of a story that reveals how
differently the child behaves based on his primary perceptual
style.

The principal desire for AUDIO Children is to maintain personal
control and a sense of fairness. I was sitting in the
allergist’s office when a woman entered with her four-year-old,
Aaron, and his cousins, Carrie, 13, and Curt, 11. Immediately
Aaron started acting silly. His mother told him to sit down and
behave. “No!” he shouted and giggled.

He picked up magazines and threw them on the floor. “Pick them
up and put them back,” his mother demanded. Aaron hurled them on
the table and then noisily started rolling and kicking on the
floor.

His mother glared. “Get up and sit down right now!” His seat
barely touched the cushion before he was back on the floor again.

His mother said in a firm voice, “When we get home, we’re having
a cookout and then we’re going swimming. If you don’t behave,
you will eat in your room and stay there for the rest of the
night. The choice is yours.”

The change in Aaron was instantaneous. “I’ll be good.”

Aaron’s actions were motivated by his desire to maintain
personal control. He wanted to show off to his cousins. When his
control of the situation was threatened, his emotions drove his
reactions and he became defiant.

When Aaron’s mother gave him a choice, it allowed him to
maintain personal control and he sensed the fairness.

The principal desire for FEELER Children is to please you or not
make you angry. For Feelers, their feelings drive both their
actions and reactions. Here is a summary of the same scenario
about Aaron, only this time he’s a Feeler.

Aaron was excited because his cousins were visiting. He started
spinning around with his arms outstretched. Suddenly he lost his
balance and crashed into the corner of the end table. “That’s
enough!” his mother snapped. “Come over here and sit down right
now.”

With his eyes lowered and shoulders hunched, he crept over to
the chair in the corner. He drew up his knees and rested his
head on his knees. Soon he quietly raised his head to wipe away
a tear. Then he slid off his chair and pulled his shorts down to
reveal the bruise to his mother while tears flowed and he
whimpered, “I hurt myself.”

“I’m sure it hurts, but it will get better,” she said
matter-of-factly.

Aaron threw his arms around his mother and said he was sorry.
“It’s okay,” she said and smiled. Aaron glowed. All was right
with his world. His mother wasn’t mad at him. With a happy
smile, he said, “I love you.”

The principal desire for Visual Children is for everything to be
perfect, just as they visualized it.

Visual children are usually obedient, unless they have to deal
with an unexpected change. Then they might resist. Let’s revisit
Aaron as a Visual child.

Aaron was excited because his cousins were visiting. “Let’s
play!” he thought. He leaned against his cousin, Curt, and
started pushing on his knees. Curt playfully pushed back Aaron’s
shoulders.

Aaron pushed harder. Curt returned the shove a little too hard
and Aaron suddenly plopped on the floor. He giggled loudly and
started pushing his cousin’s legs with his feet.

“Stop that,” Curt demanded. Aaron pushed again. This was fun!

“Aaron,” his mother said sternly, “get up and sit down next to
me.”

Aaron climbed on to the chair. While he looked down at the
floor, humiliation engulfed him. What must his cousins think of
him?

When his mother’s name was called, she got up to leave. Aaron
quickly slid out of his chair and tearfully ran toward her. She
turned and said, “You can stay and Carrie can read to you.”

“But we always go together!” Aaron wailed. His mother stretched
out her hand and he gratefully took it. She realized he wanted
to do what they usually do, get their shots together. Visuals
like routine because they can visualize what comes next.

The principal desire for Wholistic Children is to be treated
like an adult. Since Wholistic children see themselves as
adults, usually they are well behaved unless they’re tired,
bored or resentful. How different is Aaron’s story as a
Wholistic.

Aaron ran over to the chairs and asked Curt to sit on one side
of him and Carrie on the other. Aaron pointed out the children’s
books. “I know all of them,” he boasted. “Would you like one?”
Carrie nodded.

Carrie started reading but it was going too slowly for Aaron.
“I’ll read,” he said. He took the book and started telling the
story. He quickly zipped through all the books.

As the minutes ticked by, boredom struck. He crawled under
Carrie’s chair. “I’m in my cave and if you get too close, I’ll
eat you,” he squealed delightedly. He tickled the back of
Carrie’s legs. She let out a yell and stood up. Aaron laughed
uproariously.

He pushed his head against the back of Curt’s legs. “If you
don’t open the door right now, I’ll bite you!” Curt parted his
legs and Aaron squirmed through. The game was over.

Restlessness swept over Aaron again. He heard thunder and perked
up. “Can I go see the storm?”

Carrie volunteered to take him. He instantly went from looking
completely wilted to gleefully running to the door.

Soon he burst into the room. “Mommy, you should see the rainbow.
Hurry before it goes away!” Ah, the wonderful, exciting world of
new things to explore and investigate. And he was standing tall
as his mother placed her arm around his shoulders.

When you recognize how each perceptual style influences actions
and reactions, this insight helps you accept your children as
they are instead of comparing them to other children. All
children respond to love and acceptance.

Real Estate Options Can Make You Rich

March 28th, 2008

A REAL ESTATE OPTION IS A PIECE OF PAPER that allows you to control a property–such as a building, a piece of land, a hotel, motel, etc.–without owning it. And an option can cost a little as zero dollars, or up to several hundred dollars. Let’s see how you might use an option–based on a real-life property:

1. A Beginning Wealth Builder in a residental area took an option on 33 single-family homes in the month of September.

2. The option cost nothing–that is, zero dollars–and ran for 120 days through the option period.

3. At the end of the 120-day option period this Beginning Wealth Builder would have to buy these 33 homes for a total cost of $796,000, or lose his option opportunity.

4. Using creative advertising and sales methods, this Beginning Wealth Builder has been able to sell 15 of the houses for $748,000. His cost for these 15 is $392,000, giving him a profit of $748,000 - $392,000 = $356,000 before expenses. The other 18 homes he’s selling for $565,000; his cost for these = $404,000; profit before expenses = $161,000. Total profit before expenses = $517,000. Even with several thousand in expenses his profit is still significant and gives a nice year’s income.

HOW COULD ANYONE MAKE THIS MUCH PROFIT in this a short time, you ask. The answer is easy to give, and it has several parts. This Beginning Wealth Builder:

* Knows the area these homes are located in because he has carefully studied values and sales in this location for a long time.

* Offered buyers good value for the price they paid, making this a win-win sale for the buyers and the seller–plus the issuer of the option.

* Arranged the financing so the buyers could get mortgages that are affordable and allow them to earn money from the homes they bought.

* Held to his asking price even though buyers tried to “knock him down” in price to get a better deal.

IF THIS TYPE OF REAL ESTATE INVESTING INTERESTS YOU then you should give it some thought and:

1. Read a typical option; learn what’s in it. Get another version of the basic option if the one you read does not appeal to you.

2. Look around your area to see what kinds of properties are in demand which you can take an option on and re-sell at a profit. REMEMBER: NO LICENSE OF ANY KIND IS NEEDED TO DEAL OPTIONS.

SO IF YOU’D LIKE TO HAVE THE POTENTIAL of earning some $500,000 in less than six months, consider real estate options. They do work for Beginning Wealth Builder’s!

Identifying Top- and Bottom-Line Growth Strategies for Your Web Business

March 28th, 2008

Defining Top-Line versus Bottom-Line

An Internet business improves their “top line” by increasing the number of unique visitors to their website or their “bottom line” by increasing their “visitor-to-sale” or “visitor-to-lead” conversion rates.

Let me illustrate.

After an online business establishes their performance metrics, it is able to predict with confidence the expected results from their visitor traffic. For example, a business’ performance metrics may show that for every 1,000 visitors received, 15 sales are completed - a sales conversion rate of 1.5%.

With this understanding, the business can increase its “top line” growth by driving more visitors to its website. For example, if the business invests money in traffic generation efforts to increase their visitor traffic from 1,000 to 10,000, 150 sales will be achieved from the 1.5% sales conversion rate - a ten times growth rate.

Top-Line Improvements Focuses on Traffic Generation

What are “traffic generation efforts”?

In brief, traffic generation efforts are ways a business attracts visitors to their website. They may include online efforts such as search engine optimization, pay-per-click search engines, affiliate marketing, email campaigns, and media or offline ones like direct mail, television, radio, and public relations.

On the other hand, the business may decide to spend their money on improving their “bottom line” by concentrating efforts on website conversion strategies.

For example, if the above business invests money in website conversion strategies to increase their sales conversion rate from 1.5% to 2%, then for the same 1,000 visitors, sales will increase from 15 to 20 - a 25% increase.

Bottom-Line Increases Focus on Website Conversion Strategies

So what are website conversion strategies?

Website conversion strategies are website design changes that connect with your visitor’s wants and persuades them to take action to achieve your goals as well as theirs. There are endless strategies to increase your bottom line although some have greater significance than others.

Depending on your type of online business, different strategies may achieve greater results for your website and offer greater relevancy for your visitors.

If you manage a consumer or business product website than website conversion strategies that focus on reducing shopping cart abandonment may provide the greatest conversion improvement. While a service business’ lead generation website will find improvement from website conversion strategies focused on “contact us” form completion.

Implement These Website Conversion Strategies

There are website conversion strategies that will improve conversion rates for all online businesses regardless of their individual objectives. These strategies include improvements to…

• Website’s sales copy including writing headlines and sub-heads with stronger visitor appeal, defining stronger calls-to-action, using more visitor-relevant and benefit-oriented words and positioning popular visitor keywords in prominent areas connect with visitors and persuade action.

• Graphics and layout design to generate visual relevancy and message consistency for your visitors.

• Guarantees, returns, shipping, privacy, customer support and security policies you present to gain confidence and trust from your visitors.

• Navigational structures to make it easier and more convenient for your visitors to locate the products and services they desire to purchase.

• Buying or contact options to increase the ways in which a visitor can purchase or receive contact from you including alternatives to a shopping cart or online form like phone, mail, fax, online chat, and email.

How to Decide Between Top-Line or Bottom-Line Improvements

Your decision to pursue “top-line” or “bottom-line” improvements should be evaluated by (1) the objectives you plan to achieve, (2) the amount of money you have to spend, (3) the time-line established to meet your goals, (4) the amount of visitor traffic your website currently receives and (5) the conversion rate your website currently achieves for your calls-to-action.

Establishing a plan before you make any decisions is critical. As the old joke goes, “I’m making progress climbing the ladder of success–I just don’t know if it’s leaning against the right wall.” The plan should include measurable goals based on your current performance metrics.

Knowing your budget is essential in the selection process. Why, because certain conversion enhancement strategies can be implemented for a small investment of your time and effort. While traffic generation efforts may require greater investments of time, effort or both. Figuring your budget enables you to also forecast the potential return you may receive from improving your top-line versus your bottom-line. Obviously the areas that provide the biggest bang for your buck are the ones to start one first.

Understanding your time-line is also essential since many conversion enhancement strategies will offer quick improvement to your conversion rates while traffic generation efforts like search engine optimization have long lag times before delivering ample visitor traffic.

Identifying your current visitor traffic volume and conversion rates, especially for new Internet businesses, is also very important when determining top-line or bottom-line improvement. If you currently have low visitor traffic then you will have difficulty in determining if a conversion enhancement strategy had a real effect on improving your conversion rates.

For example, if your website receives 100 visitors a month it will take you at least a month or two before any real measurable changes occur to your conversion rates. In this case, you would be better off focusing on top-line (traffic generation efforts) first and then returning to bottom-line improvements for increasing your conversion rates.

Likewise, if your website currently has strong visitor traffic, like 15,000 visitors per month yet your current conversion rate produces only 5 sales then obviously you need to improve your bottom-line and focus on conversion enhancement strategies.

Take time to review your “top line” versus “bottom line” opportunities and to decide which one offers you the best return for your dollars spent. If you concentrate on improving one of the two areas over the next month you can be confident that measurable sales growth is achievable for your Internet business.

Does Becoming a Published Author Enhance a Business?

March 28th, 2008

There is a boom occurring lately, especially in the online world. More and more business people are authoring their own print book and e-books. These materials can run the gamut from information books to personal life stories, as well as coaching materials, and life skills training manuals.

With so many doing this, it would seem apparent that this is a great way to escalate a business to the next level. After all, if a person can set themselves up as an expert by publishing materials on certain subjects, others will obviously buy more, and revenue will skyrocket, right? This is not necessarily so.

While it is an advantage in some instances, it can be a disadvantage in other instances. There are parameters that need to be followed for successful publication, and there are certain requirements that must be met for successful publication.

The advantages of authoring and publishing are as follows:

1. An individual can set themselves up as an expert in a specific field of interest, thus enhancing sales and trust with clients and customers. If a publication is effective enough, and the marketing done well enough, massive exposure will occur, and an individual can fast become a “semi-celebrity” in their chosen field.

2. A print book or e-book can drive intense amounts of traffic to a Web site, if a URL is included in the publication. Publications are a well-known Search Engine traffic tool.

3. The revenue from a successful publication can itself be lucrative.

4. Backend sales can be made effortlessly, by including “mention” of other products/services within the published materials.

5. Public relations are increased, with some authors and publishers enjoying extensive notoriety. When this occurs, oftentimes individuals will buy “any” and “all” subsequent follow up products that are produced by the author and publisher.

6. Lucrative joint ventures can be established with solid publications. Many large sized print publishers and online publishers will give massive exposure to authors that produce a well-written, wide selling publication.

The disadvantages, however, do exist, and these are as follows:

1. Producing a quality publication is time consuming, at best. Materials need to be researched, written, and re-edited many, many times before the publication can be released.

2. Producing a quality publication can be costly as well. Although the field of self publishing has increased exponentially (the amount of software and services available now for self publishers is astounding), there are significant costs related to the authoring and publishing of materials, i.e., publication software and services, marketing costs, research costs, editorial and layout costs, etc.

3. If the publication is not well written and researched, and doesn’t effectively reach it’s target market, the author and publisher may very well create “negative publicity” which will hurt the business, not enhance it.

4. “Negative fans” may appear. These are individuals that seem to magically appear who disagree wholeheartedly with the published materials, and may very well create havoc for the author and publisher. Jealousy is many times a motive here, but motives are varied. This is an occupational hazard for all authors and publishers.

5. Legalities must be followed to the letter. All copyright laws, distribution laws, and all other laws pertaining to authoring and publishing must be followed explicitly. Many “novice” authors and publishers are unaware of these, and find themselves in a “legal mess”. A consultation with a lawyer versed in copyright is usually in order prior to authoring and publishing.

6. Plagiarism is rife in the world of writing, authoring, and publishing. Especially if a work is good, there will probably be recurring instances of this. Methods to defeat this behavior, such as online security measures and offline follow up, leads to an increase in overall costs.

Overall, any work must be extremely well written and professional to succeed. Many times, beginning authors and publishers, who have never written a word prior to this in trying to contain costs, will attempt to churn out the work themselves, leading to a disorganized, somewhat “unreadable” work. It is always prudent, if a person is not a writer themselves, to hire a ghostwriter that is proven, to effectively write the “best materials” possible. A publication that is disorganized and ineffective, will not “sell” in the end, and only cost the author and publisher more money overall as charge backs and returns will occur frequently, and the materials will need to be redone eventually.

Also, there seems to be a wave of new books appearing each month, that are written by those that know “little to nothing” of the materials they propose to be experts on. This is the largest mistake possible in the world of authoring and publishing. No one can be an “expert” on something that they know “nothing” about. Readers are quick to “catch on” when an author or publisher knows nothing about the subject matter. If in doubt, forego authoring and publishing until you have become an “expert” rather than write about a subject that you know nothing about, or pick a subject in which you do have a good grasp of the materials.

Be truthful, be honest, be adept, and be determined, and if you do choose to author and publish, you will indeed see success and a great business benefit! To be less than truthful, honest, adept and determined, and authoring and publishing will soon become a nightmare!

The Story of My Dog and Why You Should Care

March 28th, 2008

The Story of My Dog and Why You Should Care

It all began when I was 11 years old. That day, my mom was taking us (the kids) to Arnold’s Hey and Grain, a food store for animals. As we were approaching the door, something caught my eye: a little dog (4 months old). The puppy was situated in a cage and was lying down on his tubby little belly. He looked at me with BIG, HUGE, BUG-eyes and whimpered. He looked so sad…so lonely…so isolated. I got down on my hands and knees and said to him, “Hey there, little puppy. You sure look lonely.” Then the dog looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Well duh. I’m stuck in this freakin’ cage sleeping in my own business and eating nasty doggy kibble. How about getting me outa here, you mental midget?” I replied with, “Sure thing, dude. I’ll buy you or something like that.” He rolled his bug eyes at me and stated, “You humans are all the same…” I smirked.
Well, a few minutes after my encounter, my mom walked out of the store with the rest of the brats. She noticed I was looking at the dog and commented about how cute he was. Then I remembered how much I wanted a dog and asked her if I could buy this one (as if I bought a puppy every day). To my astonishment, she said, “Maybe.”
YESSSS!!!!!
She looked in to the matter a little more and she decided to ask my dad whether or not we could get a dog. Again to my astonishment, he said, “Maybe.” Before I could purchase my furry friend, he made me promise him that I would feed him, brush him, walk him, burp him, change his diaper etc….
Of course I agreed not realizing the mess I got my self into. “Yeah whatever.” I said, “I’ll feed him, brush him, walk him, burp him, and change his diaper etc…”
So, we bought the little punk. It would take a day before we could actually pick him up. When that day came, I was more then ready to feed him, brush him, walk him, burp him, and change his diapers! When we got him to the car, he completely freaked out (I guess he was never in a car before). He jumped over the seats, he ran between our legs, he barked at oncoming cars, he screamed, he shouted, and he used words I would never use on this blog. When I asked him why he executed such juvenile behavior, he replied with, “Because I’m a dog, stupid. Plus I was told it’s great therapy - you should try it some time.” I shrugged and told him I had given that practice up a week ago.
It was really difficult to find a name for this dog, so I went through the lists of names common to a dog. “Zip, Butch, Rover, Cretan?” I thought to myself. All those names seemed too….stupid. So I named him “Richard.” He loved it.

As the months went by, he seemed to grow larger, more intelligent, but he never did lose his puppy-like features. Taking him on walks was moderately easy, except for one thing: Once he saw a person or location he wished to approach, he would tug and pull and coke himself until he would almost pass out. Once the animal rights people noticed this, they stated that this was total animal abuse and demanded they take possession of my dog - at least until they could find a suitable owner. Of course I told them I would do nothing of the sort. They did not like my little reply so we got in a gunfight and I won. He he, those losers…
One month before he turned 1, he mysteriously developed the bad habit of chasing cars (an activity that is commonly executed by dogs). After a few weeks of having my arm pulled off, my mom and I decided that we needed to take some serious action. But before we started beating the living waste out of Richard, I decided I needed to have a little “Boy-to-Dog” discussion.

“Richard, we need to discuss something…” I said.

“Make it quick, stooge. I have a tight schedule today.” He replied.

“Richard, you’ve gotta stop chasing after cars, you’re really hurting my arms.” I said.

“You’ll survive, Brian.” He replied.

“Not for long!! What do you suggest I do? I can’t seem to train you to not chase vehicles.” I said.

” Hey, I know: when you see a car coming, let me go.” He replied.

“That’s it, smart-butt, time to get aggressive with you!!!” I said

I bought a can of Bitter Apple, A spray that comes in a bottle and is affective against disobedient k9s. On our next walk, I took the can. This is how it went:

“Oh boy!!!” he said, “A car!!”

“Leave it, mutt!” I said.

“No.” he said.

“Yes.” I said.

“Die.” He said.

“That’s it!!! Take this!!!” I said as I sprayed the substance in his mouth.

“AAAAHHHGGGGGGG” he said, “I’m melting!!!!!”

“No you’re not.” I said.

“That stuff is N-A-S-T-Y! OK, I’ll follow your unreasonable demands.” He said.

“Good.” I said.

(We don’t believe in shouting, or yelling, so we use “said,” instead of “yelled” or “shouted.”)

After a few more sprays and “discussions,” Richard stopped chasing. I was obviously glad and so was he.
Although Richard has his difficulties, he has a lot more “good stuff” about him.

the “good stuff”

Richard is extremely intelligent when it comes to learning new tricks. I taught him how to shake my hand in about 6 minutes. I also taught him how to catch food in mid-air in about 9 minutes. He’s a very fast learner. He is also learning to stay in the front yard without darting after cats and other such mobile things. Although he is currently 2, he still looks and acts like a puppy. Not only is he cute, he is also a great guard dog (just take my word for it). Oh yeah, did I mention he can talk?

Well, I think you have a good idea what my dog is like, so remember: Before you go around ranting about how cool your dog is, just think about how much cooler my dog is.

Thank you and good night

Copper Dormer Vents - Practical, Functional and Elegant

March 28th, 2008

Choose cooper dormer vents for your home to add tasteful sophistication, value and protective performance.

Copper dormer vents are one of the easiest ways to provide proper ventilation to your roofing system. The general rule of thumb of adequate ventilation is, “more is better.” Copper dormer vents add classic sophistication other materials can’t match.

A favorite design of copper dormer vents is louvered. A louvered design is both beautiful and functional. Louver vents are manufactured in a variety of shapes including triangular, rectangular, and round. They can be customized to meet the architectural requirements of the structure and style of your home.

That’s one of the benefits of choosing copper dormer vents. You can’t simply go down to your local home improvement center and pick them up. Most copper dormer vents are custom built to meet the exact specifications of your home. This type of detailed craftsmanship adds elegant beauty and value to your home.

Copper Dormer Vents

Copper has been used in building for hundreds and hundreds of years. Adding copper dormer vents will give your home the ventilated protection it needs to help preserve the life of your roof. Your copper dormer vents left untreated will weather to a different color. This weathering effect is admired and cherished by many.

While copper is more expensive than other materials, copper dormer vents offer a look that can’t be imitated. The unique qualities of copper have allowed this metal to be used for thousands of years for a variety of purposes. Many believe it was one of the first metals used by man.

Copper dormer vents can be either venting or non-venting. If you are using copper dormer vents as a non-venting additional to complement the style of your home, the design can be even more creative.

QuarkXpress Tips: How to Move Content Between Print and Web Layouts

March 28th, 2008

Since its release in 1987, QuarkXpress had made an immediate impact to computer enthusiasts. QuarkXPress introduced precision typography, layout and color control to the desktop computer, and delivered those features to designers at a fraction of the cost of proprietary typesetting systems. Quark software programs had been widely utilized to create, design and manage their documents such as books, catalogs, brochures, packaging, newspapers, magazines and online materials.

At present, Quark maintains its industry leadership with a product line that ties together traditional print publishing with enterprise content management, personalization and tools for creating collaborative, cross-media workflows. Regarding enterprise content management, I have here a brief description about moving or copying content between print and web layouts. Here are the ways to achieve this.

First, change the layout medium type in the Layout Properties dialog box (Layout > Layout Properties). Next, drag items between projects. Then, copy items from one layout and paste them into the other. Drag items into a library, and then from the library into a layout. It is important to note that if you convert a box from one type of layout to another, some of that box’s attributes may no longer apply. However, they are saved with the box. Say, a text box in a web layout is set to export in JPEG format. If you convert the layout to a print layout, the “export as JPEG” setting is ignored. But if you drag that box into a different web layout, it will still remember the “export as JPEG” setting.

When you transfer content from a print to a web layout, several cganges occur. The Convert to Graphic on Export check box is checked for all text boxes. This ensures that text in the print layout is displayed, whether or not the text styles can be formatted in an HTML text box. Linked text boxes on facing pages are displayed as separate text boxes on the same page in a Web layout. The first box of a spread of linked text boxes can be moved to a Web layout and it will contain the content from all the linked boxes in the spread. Tabs are displayed as spaces in a Web layout. Remember also that style sheet attributes that are not supported in HTML text boxes are marked with an asterisk in the Edit Style Sheets dialog box (Edit > Style Sheets).

There you have it, folks! You can now apply this simple tutorial in your next project using Quark Xpress. Enjoy what you’re doing.

If you read between the lines of what a tragedy it it is, you find stories that make the spirit soar. Most folks that I know feel a sense of responsibility toward those whose family, and homes were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. And so it is these days that people look upon the homeless; the hurt and lost with compassionreaching into their hearts and pocket books in an attempt to help that which can never be truly healed.

At the g-man household all the kids are pitching inand I really mean it. Little Rosie is attempting to give away her top shelf toysnot the junky-missing-a-piece-or-two-stuff but her very best-and-favorite toys. Not Barney thoughno way! No telling what that would cost me on Ebay at 2am with a crying child at my knee!

Kids running boxes down the stairs. The whoosh! of a tape gun. Slamming car doors. We loaded the gman Blues mobile to the roof with boxes and boxes of clothes, toys, furniture, and other necessities and started making drops. The feeling was wonderful! Everyone had this pitch-in gladly attitude. I tell you…

Well originally this road report was going to be about my first time on the radio. This week I played at a bar in the city and a local station unexpectedly showed up to do a live remote. “Play a good one” they told me “you’re on the air!”
It’s a dream that most of us rock guys haveto hear themselves on the radio. I thought that I’d tell the entire world about it the first time it happened to me. But instead I only told my manager. There is a lot more going on than gman on the airwaves right now. I guess I felt good about it, but not nearly as good as I did loading the truck today. Maybe I’ll put off any celebration until we get this humanitarian work done. Maybe I’ll never get back on the radiobut I bet I will!

In a way these are exciting times. I’m really stoked up about the Woodstock Katrina Relief Concert. If you are in that areayou should be as well. It’s going to be big and wonderful. It’s going to help a lot of peopleyou bet.

Sales And Crawlers, Update! Update! Update!

March 27th, 2008

The importance to the algorithmic web crawlers that speed throughout the web is crucial to the successful marketing campaign of your site. Your site would simply be a pretty compilation of HTML, XML, Java and the sort if search engine crawlers did not come around and look over your site. These amazing little creatures are absolutely incredible software inventions those only purpose in life is to “crawl” the web.

Jumping from site to site through links, as though in a web, (hence the WWW) these programs evaluate not only the relative importance of your site, but also have the uncanny ability to know whether or not you’ve been updating. Updating your site is one of the most crucial things you can do for your internet marketing. The crawlers love updates, they love fresh new content, and from EnkiTel.com experience, they visit your site much more frequently if you update frequently. They are hungry little fellows, always looking for new relevant information to add to the enormous indexes that Google, MSN, and Yahoo compile day by day every hour, every second.

Checking when a “bot” has been to your page is easy, simply go to the cache hyperlink in the search results for your site keyword. This will tell you when Google last indexed your page along with the relevant changes on the home page. The more often your site is visited the better. Although PR algorithms are a trade secret, it is almost certain that having the Googlebot as a guest as often as possible will increase your relative importance and help drive traffic to you site. And traffic means sales.
