How To Get Free Traffic To Your Website

April 16th, 2008

Many website owners start a website and find they only have a limited budget, if any, to spend on advertising. This is not necessarily a problem, however, because there are several ways of promoting your site for free.

The most obvious way is to submit your site to sites offering free classified ads. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of these sites on the internet. Start with some of the more popular ones and begin experimenting with different ad copies to see which ads attract the most readers, and stick with them when posting on other free classified sites.

You can also sign up to various traffic exchanges, and promote your site to other users. This is a great way of getting guaranteed hits to your site, although it is untargeted traffic. I recommend manual exchanges over automatic because this way people have to physically click on ads themselves, so more people will actually see your site. For optimum results you should join 8-10 of the largest traffic exchanges, and download a browser such as crazybrowser, which will allow you to have upto 10 windows open in the same page. Therefore you can surf them all at the same time, and quickly amass hundreds of hits to your site.

Submitting your site to directories is also a good way of getting free traffic to your site. Plus not only will you get a small steady stream of traffic, but it will also benefit you in terms of search engine rankings. You want to target high pagerank (from the downloadable Google toolbar) directories, and those where your site will be listed on a high pagerank page. This will boost your own pagerank, and help you achieve higher rankings in the future, allowing you to get subsequent free traffic from the search engines.

Similarly getting links from other related sites, either one-way or more commonly reciprocal links, will also improve your pagerank, and search engine rankings. If you are able to get links from popular sites, or get prominent links, for example from a home page of a popular site, then you can get a lot of free traffic from these sites.

Safelists are a traditional form of free advertising, and although not as effective as they once were, they can still deliver reasonable results, particularly if you are building a list of subscribers. A safelist is essentially just of list of opt-in email subscribers, who are free to send and receive emails to and from each other. You should make sure you use a free email address as your inbox will be filled with hundreds of emails.

Posting on popular forums that allow sig files (external links at the bottom of each post) can be a very effective way of receiving free traffic to your site. You should create a compelling link in your sig file, and the link should use anchor text which contains your main keyword(s) for SEO purposes. You should then make helpful and useful posts to these forums, which will build your reputation and get your link seen of course. Just make sure you don’t post worthless posts, just so you can promote your sig file.

A truly viral way of getting lots of free traffic to your site is by writing and creating your own free report or ebook, based on the subject of your site. This should include links to your site embedded within it. You can then contact popular related sites, free ebook sites, ezine owners or people with large lists, etc, and offer your free ebook to them, and tell them that they have permission to freely distribute it on their site or to their subscribers.

Finally, another great viral advertising method which can also result in a large increase in traffic over time is by writing articles. Simply write informative articles related to your site and submit them to as many article directories as possible. Each article should contain a resource box which tells the reader about yourself and also includes that crucial link (using keyword rich anchor text if possible) to your site. For even greater results you can track down ezine owners with large lists who accept article submissions, and submit your articles directly to them, offering you immediate access, if accepted, to potentially thousands of readers.

As you can see you don’t necessarily need to pay out lots of money to promote your website successfully. There are some equally effective free methods that can deliver excellent results, particularly those last two methods that I mentioned, writing free reports and articles.

Whatever methods of advertising you choose to persue, you should make sure that you use some kind of ad tracking software to track your results. This will tell you which methods of promotion are delivering results, and are worth continuing, and which ones are simply not worth wasting your time over.

Marketing Your Website Inexpensively

April 8th, 2008

There are a number ways you can go about marketing your website, many of which are quite inexpensive. Effectively marketing your Home website is vital to your ultimate success. In fact, the key to growing a business, and particularly a new Home Business, is marketing. Once you have a domain name (which can be bought for as little as $7 these days) and a reliable host (as little as $5 a month for reasonable one), you can get going on promoting your business on the Net. This can be done for free in some cases if you are willing to spend the extra time on the project. If you are unwilling to do this, you can pay someone to optimize your site and promote it for you, which is generally cost effective.

It is possible, however to promote your business online with no marketing budget. The key is to market it aggressively, guerilla marketing style. This means using every free marketing resource at your disposal, such as free classifieds, newsgroups, search engine promotion, niche directories, free-for-alls, blogs, e-mail signature lines, message and bulletin boards and free mailing opt-in lists and ezines, to name just a few. Just don’t spam, whatever you do. There are many free resources throughout the web covering these free methods. You can sign up for their free newsletters or look for their websites using your favorite search engine. Speaking of search engines, most of the traffic on the internet still comes from the free engines such as Google, despite a recent influx of pay per click or pay per performance search engines such as Overture.

Offline methods includes distributing newsletters with your product or service and contact number listed inside, trade shows, brochures, flyers, stationary, advertising in either local or regional newspapers and/or “free shoppers”, and passing out audio cassetes about your product or business to others who might be interested. The potential marketing techniques are almost limitless and it may be best to look to your “starter kit” or starter guide as it will probably go into great detail about which offline marketing methods have been proven to work best in that particular product or line of business. The bottom line is, action always beats inaction, as you gain experience and create a synergy that push your Home Business to your goals.

DOUBLE HIGHWAY The Dual Importance Of Online Traffic

March 19th, 2008

Online traffic, or the number of users who view your site, has taken a heightened prominence in recent years. Whereas before, people scampered for ways to increase online traffic for the sole reason of promoting their products and effectuating more sales, the advent of Google AdSense has drastically changed the playing field of today.

AdSense, you see, pays webmasters for every visitor that clicks on an ad link that is displayed in his site. Following the same formula for selling a product, the more visitors a site would have, the more chances that an ad link would be clicked. This has resulted in an intensified crusade to increase online traffic.

This dual importance that online traffic has taken makes things more difficult for the marketer who only wishes to sell his products. First, because there are more competition in the contest for visitors these days. And second, because search engine rankings, particularly those of Google’s, have adapted stricter rules.

But all is not lost in your hope to increase online traffic. Here are some ways that you could employ to attract more visitors:

1. Choose the right keywords. 80% of your visitors would come from search engines. Before you submit your site for indexing, you should have prepared a list of keywords that are related to your products. Whenever a user would type a word or a phrase that is relevant to the keywords you have submitted, your site would appear in the results page. This would definitely cause an increase in your online traffic!

2. Get your own domain name. Some people are still selling their goods with a free account. This does not give the right impression to the learned client. Having your own domain name would convey that sense of professionalism that your business needs. Additionally, a good domain name would be easier to remember, and this would certainly make your site more accessible.

3. Content is king! The Internet is called the information superhighway for good reasons. People surf the net for information, first and foremost. Provide high quality and original content that people would want and need, and online traffic will definitely increase.

4. Start your own mailing list. A mailing list is a good way to increase online traffic. Establishing a subscriber base would assure that past visitors would return to your site over and over again. They may have decided against a purchase before, but an excellently setup mailing list can warm them up to buy your products in the future. Remember, a lost visitor is a lost sale.

5. Make use of an effective traffic expert service. There are a few businesses out there which offer guaranteed and dedicated traffic. The visitors they will provide are premium quality, meaning, they come with a high possibility of buying your products. Consider www.traffic-plus.com , which is most probably the best traffic expert service on the web when it comes to delivering highly targeted quality visitors.

6. Distribute your own eBook for free. Writing an eBook about a subject that is related to your products would allow you to promote your business in its pages. You could strategically place your website’s links throughout the said eBook. Allow your readers to freely distribute the eBook to the people they know and you’ll have a viral mechanism in play. This would result in an exponential increase of your online traffic.

7. Use Pay Per Click, or PPC, services. PPC services like Google Adwords would prominently display your site’s link in every relevant search made in their search engines. You will be charged a certain amount for every click that is made by a user, but this is a guaranteed way to increase online traffic, what with the great positioning of your link.

There are several other ways to increase online traffic, but we have enumerated the more popular and efficient ones. If done properly, they are sure to boost the volume of visitors who would grace your pages, and increase the possibility of consummating a sale.

Using Traffic Exchange Programs Part 1

March 12th, 2008

I have an ingenious concept in store for you!

I am sure that you have heard of Traffic Exchange programs such as Traffic Swarm, No More Hits and Hit Pulse. If you do not what they are just yet, quite simply, Traffic Exchange programs allow you to surf for credits in exchange for traffic to your web pages.

If utilized correctly, these Traffic Exchange programs can bring you effective results in both list-building and sales, free of charge. And I am about to teach you just that.

In this series, I will teach you not only how to earn credits from several Traffic Exchange programs simultaneously without having to cheat but how to organize your list-building campaign effectively.

Have I got your attention? So, here we go!

First Thing’s First

===============

Before anything else, you must have your own regular newsletter (also known as e-zine). Do you have one just yet? If you do not have one, then you have to have one right now!

The objective of this series is to gain targeted subscribers to newsletter at no expense. Since you will not be spending any money, the success lies heavily in your efforts.

Also, make sure that your regular newsletter is free for everyone to join.

If you do not have a regular newsletter, you can compensate with a free e-book or a report to give away in exchange for your subscriber names and e-mail addresses. Just be sure that your e-book or report is free and viral in nature so that your subscribers can pass your e-book or report to other people in their network.

In the end, your objective is still to collect a list of targeted subscribers so that you can follow-up with them later when you have products or services to promote.

The reason I use the word “targeted” is because you do not want to get just anybody to subscribe to your newsletter. If you are selling collectible game cards, you will want to get people who are fans of collectible game cards to subscribe to your newsletter and not people who are old enough to be your parents.

Register With A Few Traffic Exchange Programs

=========================================

These are some of the best Traffic Exchange programs I have found to date. You can join as many as you wish as you need not join all of them.

[2] www.ts25.com

[3] www.trafficpods.com

[4] www.nomorehits.com

[5] www.fastlanetraffic.com

The more programs you join the more credits you can get and in exchange, you can get more traffic to your web page.

If you are not familiar with how a Traffic Exchange Program works in detail, you can learn more from either one of the web sites listed above. They work more or less the same.

In the next series, I will teach you how you can surf for credits at the same time legally and get targeted opt-in subscribers for free.

See you again!

Viral Marketing Technique Creates a “Chain Reaction” with One-Time Action!

February 15th, 2008

Suddenly your site’s traffic multiplies. You get “Money Waiting” emails from your Payment Processor; more sales than you can handle. Your downline increases radically - potential entrepreneurs join your sales force.

Your leads-list inflates spectacularly. Your jaw drops as you witness the evolution right before your eyes…

You rub your eyes as you are hooked on your screen watching those figures invading your monitor. Your heartbeat boosts uncommonly fast.

What actually happened?

– The Chain-Reaction Effect has just Began –

It could happen to you… a 4-digit ($8225 in gross sales) overnight earning was the byproduct of a well-coined viral marketing scheme, which unexpectedly met my wildest crest.

I never thought that a (above any logical suspicion) free e-report would multiply among subscribers so virulently fast. Just like an epidemic attacks our immune system belligerently, an alike “power” compelled numerous of ordinary subscribers into acting as active bonds of a chain-reaction… multiplying the report to hundreds of thousands of PC’s across the nations!

At last… after zealous experimentation, a powerful marketing formula was constituted; all the much-needed critical elements produced an incredible effect in traffic, sales and… ultimate multiplication.

Since then, I never spent a cent in publicity - why throw money down the drain when other potential people feverishly pass my free reports with maniac-like fanaticism?

Even the most fixated group of rebels would envy of this induplicable contrive.

While it’s impractical to expand the components of this “virulent formula” over a few paragraphs, one element awed me - “the power of reciprocation goaded people into spreading the news with utter willingness.”

Can you identify with this “patrol movement”?

The colossal muscle of an intoxicating viral marketing scheme can attribute to your income dramatically. For a more analytical reference on “viral marketing” and its’ importance, refer to http://traffic-engine.net

Linking Strategy in the Post-Jagger Period

December 30th, 2007

“Please take down my link.” I never thought I would live to see the day that I would get an email like this, but the latest Google update has caused some people to panic. This particular person thought that his site would be penalized if he had a link coming from a site in an unrelated field. Well, following the Jagger update how should we approach linking? Should we “nuke” our reciprocal links directories altogether? Or is there a sensible way to continue linking?

Google doesn’t explain the details of their updates and algorithm changes. It is widely thought they made moves to crack down on spamming and techniques designed to fool their indexing efforts. And possibly sites that added lots of irrelevant links in a short period were penalized. Google representatives have also stated publicly, in forums, that if you link to a “bad neighborhood” you could be penalized.

I can’t get inside the Google algorithm anymore than anyone else, but I strongly believe that linking should go on in a “natural” way, in a way that predates the linking craze which Google itself helped to create. Here are some elements of a natural linking strategy.

1. Link to kinds of sites that will provide good resources for your web visitors.

This is actually the very idea behind Google’s system of Page Rank. Sites that are “cool”, that are informative and interesting will get “votes” or links from other sites on the basis of their value as a web resource. So, link to those sites that are worthy of being in your link directory.

2. Don’t link blindly just because someone is willing to give you a link in return.

Check out any site that is proposing a link exchange with you. Are they a possible spam site? A site that has no content and only ads, or a site in fields such as online gambling, pornography, or similar areas would be suspect. If the site has a page rank of 0 and also has none of its interior pages indexed by Google, then it may have been penalized. You can tell how many of its pages are indexed by making this search: site:www.suspectsite.com .

3. Link to those sites that cater to your target audience.

In the early days of the Internet, the main incentive to link was that it would provide you with some targeted traffic. This concept is still valid. If you have a site about yoga, then find sites whose visitors would likely be interested in yoga and propose a link exchange with them. You may or may not raise your page rank with this exchange, but you will get the kind of visitors that you are looking for.

4. Get One-Way Non Reciprocal Links

There are two primary ways to get these valuable one-way links. The first way is to make your site so informative, so useful, so authoritative, that people will mention it or list it without you having to do anything at all. This is of course not an easy task, but it should be a target. You should strive to be the best in your field and if you can approach this goal then you will be noticed and you will get links without even asking for them.

Another way to get one-way links is to write articles and get them published on other websites. You are probably an “expert” in the field covered by your website. Share your expertise with others in the form of 600-800 word articles. You can distribute your articles in the article distribution groups of Yahoo! Go to http://groups.yahoo.com and make a search for article publishing or free reprint articles and you will find a number of places where you can place your article. Remember to include a link back to your site in the resource box at the end of the article.

So, don’t press the panic button. Keep your link and resource directories but build them up in a way that adds value to your site and helps you to get an extra flow of targeted traffic. If you have the skill to get non-reciprocal links, then by all means get them.

The more traffics you get at your website, the
more your chances of making a sale increases.

Here are 10 blazing website traffic secrets to help
you succeed:

1. Show your prospects how much enthusiasm
you have for your product and business. If you’re
convincing enough, they will be enthusiastic too.

2. End your sales letter or ad copy with a strong
closing. It could be a free bonus, a discount price,
a benefit reminder, an ordering deadline, etc.

3. Please your complaining customers. You can
refund their money, give them a discount, give
them a free gift, solve the problem quickly, etc.

4. Make your customers get excited about your
business and they will tell their friends. Give
them a free vacation certificate, a coupon, etc.

5. Give your prospects extra confidence so they
will order. Use endorsements, testimonials, a
strong guarantee or warranty, etc.

6. Build your opt-in list by allowing your visitors

7. Give your prospects or customers a breath of

8. Allow your customers to get part of your total
offer right after they order. If you have to ship the
item, make one of your bonuses available online.

9. Write and submit articles to e-zine publishers
or webmasters. If you want it to be published, it
should be like an article and not like an ad.

10. Show your prospects that you are an expert,
because authority can persuade people to buy.

Increase Your Tourism Web Traffic & Sales - Guaranteed

November 10th, 2007

Web sites are a major part of the tourism marketing success strategy
used by international tourism promoters in the new millennium: tourism
boards, Associations, lodging, tour operators, etc. If your tourism web
site does not have these four primary elements clearly and quickly
represented, you are missing opportunities and losing sales.

1. Creates a desire to use your tourism services, visit your destination or
participate in your unique tourism option

2. Clearly informs prospects of travel and service benefits, options, sites,
nature/environment, activities

3. Answer questions and concerns a typical visitor may have

4. Motivates prospects to contact you quickly (not your competitor) for
more information, travel options and dates, answer questions and
address concerns

If your site achieves all these goals, then the prospects that have visited
your site will be more excited, motivated, qualified, informed and much
closer to giving you a booking or visiting your country. This article is not
about web design and layout theory, but why the written word and
consumer psychology is a prime factor in influencing arrivals and sales.

Create a desire to Visit your destination or travel with your
company

Prospective travelers may or may not choose to visit your destination
based on what they read on your web site – usually just your home
page.

Read the article Tourist Safety and Security on Adventure Business
Consultants, then you’ll know how crucial it is to first communicate to
prospective travelers that your destination and/or tour is a safe, secure
and fun place to visit. With so many global destination choices online
and so much international turmoil, you MUST communicate clearly it is a
safe and fun destination quickly.

The best place to first communicate safety, security and fun is on your
home page, not buried deep in your site. When someone first comes to
your web site, you literally have five to twenty seconds to grab their
interest and compel them to want to know more about your destination,
tours, etc. If you don’t grab them on your home page, they are gone.
Those prospective tourists are back to surfing the web, seeking out a
more interesting, compelling tourism web site and vacation destination.

If you look at your log report, (the statistical report that your internet
service provider should make accessible to you) that monitors your web
visitors activity, i.e. pages visited, length of time on your site, key words
used to find your site, etc., you may notice that the majority of visitors
may stay less then a minute. On a poorly written and designed web site,
maybe less then fifteen seconds. So grabbing their attention and
motivating them to want to know more is the first obstacle and
opportunity. Testimonials and photos of happy tourist are perfect for
communicating safety and experience quickly. Use them liberally.

Tourism Web Site Must Clearly inform

One of the prime reasons people travel is to experience “something
different” from their ordinary life and location. Active and ecotourists
want to learn about new cultures, see different houses, hear and speak
a different language, reflect on ancient religions and buildings, marvel at
unbroken vistas, or try a new activity. This is exactly what most
ecotourism operator and destinations are selling and what you must
communicate to your web visitors.

Too many web sites that give web visitors unknown destinations instead
of activities or types of regions. Most people surfing your web site are
not going to know, for example, what they’ll find in Hosgol, Khenti, or the
Gobi – which are major regions of Mongolia I discovered during two
consulting projects I did there for their tourism Association and ministry.
You be better off to define what type of regions they are and what they
have to offer. Use descriptive words that everyone will understand. For
example:

Hosgol –Mountains • Lakes • Fishing • Horseback Riding • Hiking

Khenti – Steppes • Rivers • Fishing • Horseback & Mt. Biking •
Religious Sites

Gobi – Desert • Camel Riding • Trekking • Archeology

You must use descriptive text and compelling words that paint a
desirable mental picture.

Summarize your trips in bullets and short headlines and sub-
headlines

Use descriptive verbs and compelling words in the body of the text to
give substance and details to the headlines and sub-heads.

Effective Tourism Marketing Web Sites -Answer Questions and
Concerns

When a prospective tourist is considering a destination, in addition to
types of regions and activities, they have additional questions and
concerns that must be addressed to earn their visit or booking. The
same holds true with Out Bound Booking Agents, but even more so.

Some of these travelers questions and concerns include:

Safety precautions and procedures • How you are going to protect their
safety? • Length of vacation • Costs • Difficulty of trip • Travel options to
Ulaan Bataar • Lodging – hotel, camping or Ger • Food– vegetarian or
special restrictions • Water – Is it safe? • Medical emergency/1st aide
resources • Qualifications of staff • Experience level of company •
Exchange rates & procedures • Times of year to visit • Group discounts
• Children – minimum age/experience • Insurance needs/options •
Cancellation policy/minimums for departure • In-country transportation
& equipment • Visa requirements • Inoculations/disease precautions •
language

One of the best ways to deal with all the typical questions you’ll get from
prospective clients is a Frequently Asked Questions and Answers page
– FAQ’s. You should also create a pre-written response E-mail that
responds to these questions and more. Testimonials and pictures that
address these questions are great too.

Successful Tourism Marketing - Motivates prospects to Buy

Remember that:
Marketing is the actions and steps to getting prospective and qualified
visitors/clients to call or e-mail you.

Selling is the transference of enthusiasm from you to the prospect.

Sales is getting those prospective visitors/clients to feel comfortable
and excited enough about your destination/or trip, to give your money
and book a trip.

Your tourism web site quickly communicates that region and your tours:

Are fun, safe and secure on the home and subsequent pages

Effectively answer questions and concerns

Uses a blend of testimonials and images of happy visitors (especially
celebrities and/or recognized media)

When prospects call or e-mail, they will far more motivated and excited.
If you are excited in your spoken and written words too, then making a
sale is ten times easier. If you or a staff member can effectively speak
the foreign language of your prospect, can be excited about what you
are selling and can ask for the booking, it would be better to schedule a
phone call with serious prospects at your expense whenever possible.
This will radically increase your odds of converting that web site visitor
into a paying client.

Web site Samples and Resources

See the following web sites for good use of testimonials, compelling
headlines, layout, photos and descriptive text that clearly informs
prospects of travel options, sites, nature, activities, etc. How a site looks
is important, but it is the words and how they are expressed, that is most
important.

Tourism Web Site Check List for Success

Web sites are a major part of the marketing success strategy used by
international tourism promoters.

Prospective travelers may or may not choose to visit your region or use
your tour, based on what they read on your web site – usually just your

Your web site quickly communicates that your destinations and tours are
fun, safe and secure.

Your web site effectively answers questions and concerns.

You must use descriptive text and compelling words that paint a

Summarize your trips in bullets and short headlines and sub-headlines

prospective clients is a Frequently Asked Questions and Answers page

Don’t forget that your web site must show up in the top 1 –20 positions of
directories and search engines from a relevant key word search. Without
this, no matter how well written and laid out your web site is, you will
loose out on the majority of prospective clients. See

How to Keep Your Listings From Dropping Out of Sight

November 2nd, 2007

As a home business, one of the ways you probably drive traffic to your website is
through search engine traffic. You probably also rely on Google ranking your
website in the top of its search engine listings.

If you haven’t checked your Google listing recently, you might want to pay careful
attention and do so. Even if you’ve been ranked well with your Google keywords,
your website ranking might have dropped by hundreds of positions. You might find
yourself desperately looking for ways to bring your site back up to the top
positions.

Here are major reasons why these changes are occurring: Google is using a
variety of filters and algorithms to rank web pages in its search results. Google
constantly updates these filters and algorithms so listings are “relevant” to the
keywords people are searching for. As well, Google wants to keep other
webmasters sure to be guessing what is happening next.

Unfortunately, if search engines don’t make these changes regularly, “search engine
spammers” can actually trick search engines into making unrelated sites appear in
the top listings. Just imagine searching for “cheap gift ideas” but instead you find
the top listings to be a redirect to gambling and adult websites!

But many online business owners are now finding their Google listings to have
dropped out of sight. High website rankings have dropped all as a result of
common techniques a webmaster would use to improve their search engine
rankings.

If your website listing has dropped out of the listings of Google, you have probably
found yourself scrambling to figure out how you can fix this problem fast, so that
you don’t loose money.

So what should you do?

According to many of the forums I’ve visited recently, there is only ONE
conclusion…. Wait for Google to fix this problem.

Google is trying to fine-tune the latest algorithm while webmasters are praying this
issue will hopefully be resolved. Don’t let Google frustrate you more during this
waiting period.

Here are a few changes you can make in order to ensure that potential customers
are finding your website:

1. Make Sure Your Website Offers High-Quality Relevant Content.

Adding well written content to your website is still a very effective way to improve
your website ranking. Google’s main goal is to offer valuable resources and
information through measuring the “relevance” of your site’s content to keywords
ratio.

2. Do Not Over-Optimize Your Website.

Google can now detect these over-optimized site tricks by penalizing websites that
use them by dropping their ranking dramatically.

Make sure you are not an offender of common “loophole” tricks such as:

A. Doorway pages designed primarily for search engines, not for users.
B. Link farms - multiple web sites whose sole purpose is to link to each other.
C. Hidden invisible links and white keyword text.
D. Mirror sites optimized for a single search engine.

3. Use Paid Advertising Methods to Keep Traffic Coming to Your Website.

As a quick way of compensating for your losses until you’re able to get your ranking
back up, you just might want to look into paid advertising. Pay per clicks (PPC’s) can
be an effective way to get traffic coming to your website in just a few hours, but
make sure you watch your budget!

4. Employ Multiple Methods of Generating Traffic.

The best way to ensure that your site gets a steady stream of traffic is to combine a
variety of traffic-generating techniques and to not rely on just ONE technique to
keep your business running. Consider using other successful strategies such as
email marketing, pay per click advertising, affiliate programs and link exchanges to
drive customers to your website.

5. Explore Other Valuable Search Engine Resources.

While it is true that most searcher go to Google, Google certainly is not the ONLY
search engine around. You still can drive fresh traffic to your website by improving
your website ranking results in some of the other search engines. Some of the
bigger search engines are Yahoo, MSN, Inktomi, Dogpile, Hotbot and AllTheWeb.

By employing all of the above mentioned strategies, you should be able to keep your
website from dropping out of sight. Make sure you don’t rush into making sudden
changes and explore multiple options. And most importantly, keep your website up
to date with fresh relevant content to ensure your customers keep coming back for
more!

Google is Not the Only Phone Company in Town!

October 3rd, 2007

If your sales depend only on Google traffic and Google adsense or adwords then you could be in for a big dissapointment. Constant search engine rankings can make or break you. I know. I’ve been there. Riding high on Google rankings then dropping like a 2 ton rock in the Altlantic ocean.

Do NOT put all your eggs in one basket. There are several other ways to drive traffic to your site and depending on just one, like Google, is just plain bad marketing efforts.

Yahoo, Yahoo’s YPN, and other search engines along with pay-per-click programs can bring you extra traffic and maybe even more sales.

I currently have Google Adsense and Yahoo’s YPN ads on my site and I can tell you right now that Yahoo’s YPN is paying me THREE times the amount that Adsense is paying. Why? Not sure, because both ads are featured on the same based keywords. I divided pages up equally between Adsense ads and YPN ads and Yahoo is the “bigger Daddy”.

“He who only puts one iron in the fire will not set the world alight”

Distribute your advertising in several different ways. Test, test, then test again. Optimize your pages for good content and keyword density and then let the search engines gobble that. DON’T optimize your pages for Google only. You might number 1 today and then number 378 as soon as they have their next algorythm change. Nothing they do is “personal”, but it sure fells like it when they dig in your pocket after all the work you did to make THEM happy. What I don’t understand is why Google is constantly changing except that it gives engineers something to do for those hefty paychecks. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Google is constantly “fixing” a well oiled machine.

The other day I was searching for business loans and the first few pages were all listings from the UK even though I was on the main search engine, and not the Google.uk. If I had wanted a loan, I had to search several pages deep to find on in the US.

Pay per click sites:

1. Yahoo! Search Marketing has a well organized system.

There are MANY other search engines and advertising opportunities for you out there. Just look around to find them. After awhile you will see that Google is not the only phone company in town even though they act like it!
